Took the Forester to the drag strip

On an '04, or a newer 2.5? I'd probably have it with a proper tune - Cobb OTS maps are not known for making a lot of power. They say 285 flywheel with this map, and a real tune should put me just shy of 300 wheel.

From the numbers I've found, I'm 14lb lighter than an 04 STi. 😛

On the EJ25. Those were my best numbers with VF43 and I'm not the best driver in the world...surprising I know, 😛

Getting an etune from PDX or another shop might be a happy medium, some people pick up 15-20whp over the OTS Cobb maps.

I wanna run a mid to low 13 in the 1/4!!! (never raced mine, afraid to blow my stock tranny)

If you're too scared to try at stock power levels you will be utterly crippled with fear at higher power levels 😛

2004 Subaru Forester XT with a VF39, STi TMIC, Maddad 3" turboback, and an Accessport OTS tune.

Just don't dump the clutch and it'll be fine. The worst you'll do is burn up the clutch!

but this guy covered it. in a powerful RWD, it's often difficult to break a trans, drive/axleshaft, rear gears, ect unless a) you're dropping the hammer and b) the car actually hooks when you do it.

with a full-time AWD car, the latter is a definite possibility, so be careful. you mismanage the clutch a bit in a 2WD and you're gonna get tire squeal. do it in an AWD and it might be you that's squealing as you pick your parts up off the ground. 😉

What kind of mileage do you get with that, JLee?

Sorry, missed that earlier. 22-23mpg highway, ish. Maybe 20 or so mixed? Best I've seen out of it was..24.6 mixed, but that was keeping out of boost due to a loose intercooler.

That's been taken care of and fuel economy went back down. Go figure. 😛

Thats OK.
It is still 2~3 MPG better than I have ever gotten in our Honda.
I feel your pain. I got 19 with my truck bringing it home from Montana, 75-ish all the way home.
I started ordering parts and that was the last time it got 19 :awe:
