Warranty is one year. That's one of the reasons I decided not to build yet. I run my business from this computer and I just don't have time to sit there and fiddle with driver/hardware/loose cord/whatever problems every week.
However, I will build my own right after Vista is released. And for those of you look down upon my mighty Dell, prepare to be owned one year from now. Gatsby is going to go all out. I'm saving that "sweet coin." Top of the line dual core AMD, 4 GB ram, 200W phase change overclocking, everything.
Out of my own curiosity, I opened the case to take a gander inside, good heavens, the heatsink in this thing is a monster. It's as big as a small dog.

How do you get computer problems every week? I built my computer a few months back and I have yet to have a single problem and it's on 24/7.
I hope your plans for 0wnage are accounting for people who have 15000rpm SCSI with nice properly-working TCQ and sub-4ms seek timesAnd for those of you look down upon my mighty Dell, prepare to be owned one year from now.

Anyway, enjoy your new rigand if I may make a suggestion, use a Limited-class user account for everything that you can, if it's a business box. Very good boost to security.

Reading these forums it's hard not to think a custom built computer is a problem production facility.

A lot of people who post about their custom computer problems are usually overclocking and are looking to get a stable OC.

Oh come on man, build it yourself. It's not that hard at all. If a thirteen year old can do it like me, surely you can. But as long as your happy, I guess it doesn't matter.
I am also the only user of my computers, both at home and at work. Having read thousands of malware descriptions as a sysadmin, I see great value in using a Limited-class account for all daily-driver stuff, and only breaking out the Admin-level powers when they're needed. Think it over, it's the best antispyware protection available to a Windows user and also thwarts a huge selection of Trojans, worms and viruses. If you use a browser, an IM client or an email program, run it under a Limited account, that's my advice.I operate from home and I am the only user who uses this computer so it's no concern, but thanks for the suggestion.
You mean five 15k drives. And the dual Opteron 275's, and the $700 133MHz PCI-X SCSI RAID controller with the on-card battery backup and 128MB cache. Right? The 15k RPM HD is in the plans. As for the TCQ part, I'll have to figure out what that is before I implement it.
2007 will be the year of the Gatsby. Muahahaa.

Mark's talking about picking up a couple of quad-core Oppies if they're out when he gets his house paid off. So keep it realistic here, it's not easy to be the top dawg at AnandTech Forums these days![]()
I think that's what Mark's other 12 computers are for, is mundane things like bulk storage and entertaining his offspring. What's the highest you can get a15k HD? 147GB? Five of them, that's a total of 735GB. That's not a lot if you're looking to be king of anything.

That's weak. For a computer LCD, the Dell 24inch is the way to go.
