Did those idiots in Atlantis get duped into giving up control of the city again? - Thats what I gather from the previews. They seem to be really good at leaving the city. The entire expedition should be replaced with fewer incompetent people.

Q: I don't watch Atlantis, but I did watch the EP where SG1 went there to use their database. So, was the hologram always an Ancient, or just that one time when Jackson and Vala were using it? I'm assuming the latter.

They were both good episodes, something outside the main story arc that's entertaining and can stand on its own.
I'm looking forward to the 200th I imagine the torrents will be quite speedy for that one.

SG-1: An interesting take on the traditional "stop a monster" SciFi plot. Really it was more of a character-story than a SciFi story, which is good. Season 9 didn't have a good team-building episode and this is finally it. It was filler, but good filler.

SGA: Crap, they blew up Atlantis twice in a single episode.:Q At any rate, there's the new big-bads for the series to go with the Wraith. I loved the episode, and I'm interested to see where it's going, but I feel a bit worried about how it was constructed. You have a small group of humans being hunted by a group of machines seeking vengeance. Battlestar Atlantis anyone? I hope it doesn't come to that, but it's awfully similar. I'm not sure I like how the Replicator idea is getting rehashed either.

On an unrelated note, Doctor Who is back. SciFi has picked up season 2 and is going to be using it as part of their scheme to keep a new sci-fi show episode on every single week year-round for SciFi Friday(aww crap, I guess this means my Fridays are booked until 2010). It'll start at the end of September when the Stargates go in to hiatus. Unfortunately, the Christmas Invasion is being made 2-hours long(since it's exactly 1 hour of footage, with no room for commercials), which means SciFi is going to be interrupting its airing with a lot of commercials to fill the extra hour.

I don't think the replicators here really care about the humans, it seems that they just want to destroy Atlantis, the last vestige of their creators. If they wanted the humans all dead then they would have killed them instead of imprisoning them. What is interesting is that they did leave the possibility that some of them could turn out to be good guys like the few we did see. Perhaps they could ascend and fight the Ori.

In SG1 the monster reminded me of Doom. Good character development, but I was a bit dissapointed in the quality of the monster. I think they could have made it more Alienesque.

These replicators (at least some of them) do seem to have the potential and desire to become the "good guys". Their anger is understandable because of their builtin aggression and how they've been wronged by the ancients. But now that the atlantis team blew up an entire city of theirs along with who knows how many of them aboard, I don't think that helps things any. I wonder if the one left in space will end up like the angry replicator from SG-1...

He was reprogrammed, so I would guess not. Although they did blow up the ship, it seems that there would still be sympathizers in the society.
