good so far...they replayed the miniseries on tues and wed.....they're showing it again on sunday at 3pm....it's 4 hours long.
 
i have to watch the 9:30 show. My kids are watching some movie on the Disney channel and when i tried to change it i almost had a mutiny on my hands.

New Stargate SG1 episodes and BSG. Have to hook the VCR up now. (I can do without Atlantis. It's just okay, and the token ethnic people ruin in, mainly the chick.)

Edit: the super-religious female Cylon (or Cylon-simulation in Baltar's head) is going to drive me nuts. And I hope they resolve the "Cylons among us" issue instead of having it crop up every other episode, or worse, every episode. Conspiracies are really boring when they are part of every single story. I can just tolerate Baltar's guilty conscience being pointed out over and over and over.

It's been very entertaining so far! Man, why did they put the only three shows I watch on the same night. Argh, 3 hours in one spot is to much, I might have to start using the dang PVR on this PC>

 
Truly good TV is rare. Good stuff on Sci-Fi is unfortunately no more common than elsewhere (and sometimes, more rare). Good new sci-fi genre TV shows get me all giddy and giggly.

It'd be nice to see an original series, something that's not based on old shows or an old movie or a spinoff of an existing show. But in the meantime, I'm pleased as punch.

And with my tastes in girls, Starbuck makes this pretty close to pr0n. 🙂 Most everybody else too, for that matter.

Except the President, she annoys me and she's old and I foresee lots of annoyance in future episodes. (She's already been the one making what should be military decisions in these episodes, and they're bound to have more scenes which don't make logical sense like that.)

Olmos is actually kinda hot for being old and ugly. 🙂 Must be the uniform.

Good shows tonight. I kept wishing Boomer was going to blow up but oh well; I like her acting and she's nice to look at but the sleeper agent thing is just dull. I hope Starbuck gets a lot more screentime in future episodes - can't get enough of that face.

I don't mind having 3 hours in a row in one night that I have to watch (don't even mind it's Friday, I have no life), but it's the only 3 hours of TV worth watching and I got nothing else to watch all week, just have a week to anticipate Fridays.

I just realized this show is having the same effect on me that Robocop always has. I've got a delusional personality thing going on. I didn't need another reason to act like a robot (or believe I am one, along with an alien and a god). Of course, I'm not a sucky human-like robot, and certainly not one of the stupid Cylon types that can be shot in the head and die from it and can't shoot dual machine-pistol arms at a man running in a straight line without missing. At the very least, I have a targeting program.

Did I mention Katee Sackhoff is hot? Unfortunate name for a girl that cute. I wonder if she has neuroses from going through school with that name.

God I'm old. She's just a bit more than 3 years younger than me.

You actually see a lot, lot, LOT more of Boomer. And the 'infiltration' thing goes kinda nuts around episode 10 when....errrr....nevermind. (SkyTV in the UK has shown up to episode 10. Thank you mispelled exploding star!)

ANYWAY, I don't think you'll find the Cylon-religion-thing as annoying as it seems at first glance, nor the infiltration angle.

I know what you are thinking, as soon as the issue came up, you almost groaned inwardly thinking of all the ways it will suck based on how other SciFi shows would have handled it.

Trust me. BSG is better than that. Shocking, I know, but at least as of 10 episodes in, they've handled the issues well, and each episode has been edge-of-your-seat suspense throughout.

I'd say it's as good as Babylon 5 was at its best....so far.
 
yea, i wonder what's going to happen the guy left back at the planet. I watched the SKY TV episodes and they're great. I loved the one with the refinery on the asteroid, crazy stuff.
 
W00t! Only problem with suspenseful shows is commercials. I'd pay for SciFi if it meant no commercials. Even years ago I would have paid for it, but with the way commercials go these days, I'd pay a lot more. HBO, Showtime, screw them, they've got nothing important. Maybe with some cash influx SciFi could really shine.

So will the UK always be ahead of us in episodes, or will they do something to normalize us for the next season. For something like this it'd be cruel to have us out of sync by only a few episodes, it's not like we're getting a show after it's been running in the UK for several years.

As for Babylon 5, I didn't have SciFi early enough to get caught up in that. I watched it once in a while and it was good, and it's one of those series that I want to get on DVD but god is that expensive. I'm working on SG1 right now, which I have to say I like better than B5 just because it's more rollicking and humorous and far less serious about itself. BSG looks like it could be as good as SG1 anyway. (I missed out for awhile with SG1 so this season was really going to be the first time I'd be working to catch each episode.)

I'm going to have to look into building a PVR machine with all the spare parts I have; actually have to see it through this time instead of giving up when it doesn't work quite right on the first try. 🙂

God protect Comcast if they blow my cable any Friday nights. 🙂
 
GREAT show! The best new original series I've seen in years. Simply amazing what they've put into this and how good it's turned out. A complete success. I'm staying home every Friday night until the seasons ends.
 
After seeing another episode of this, I've decided what I like so much about it.

It borrows much, much, MUCH more from "The West Wing" than it does the original BSG series. Each crisis that comes up feels believable - none of the manufactured panics that plagued the original series, or the frequent wondering "Well, if they'd just stop and THINK for a moment, this would never have happened!" You don't have to suspend disbelief over and over to accept that humans could act in a certain way (especially the original Baltar - what WAS that guy's problem!?)

The new series takes a lot from "West Wing". Indeed, as off episode 11, there has been...what...2 major 'military/battle' episodes? And that's counting the first episode of the series?

The old BSG was cheesy popcorn-SciFi. The new BSG is Drama - capital 'D' and all. That it happens to be set in a SciFi universe that is really interesting is completely incidental, it's all about the characters and the people that make up this world.

There is no "alien of the week", there are no constant battles, no plot-oriented plagues or diseases that spring up horribly in one episode only to never been seen from again, no technobabble of any kind (indeed, they use modern military terminology for everything), no fancy gadgets or tech tricks to 'save the day' in one episode only to be forgotten later, etc.

Like "West Wing" - this show is about people in stressful situations and how they deal with it. And the writers....really, really know what they are doing.
 
I wonder if incorporating obsolete technology was a way to make them save money on sets 😀

Seriously though, this is the best show I've seen since The X Files. If they keep up these production standards, I can almost see NBC (SciFi's parent company) picking it up. My favorite aspect of the show is the realistic Newtonian physics during the space battles. The ships don't fly around like airplanes- they can make 90 degree turns, stop and rotate, they use manuvering thrusters...cool 🙂 Sound is muted during the battles to give a feeling of emptiness (there's actually no sound in space, but the scenes wouldn't be very interesting). VERY well done.
