Actually I don't wear them because I don't own them.

I'm a beach cities person.

granted, ive only visited the beach cities, but when i was there i would venture to say every person i saw had on both shoes and pants. they may not have owned them though, i suppose its possible they were all borrowed :)

How did you ever get a job? Christ, I wear business casual to work and never wear ties but I do own some along with a couple sport coats.

Why would I need to wear anything else? I don't deal with customers. I sit at a desk all day and fuck with software.

Find some employee that you never met before and drop a line about how bonuses were the best they've been in years, that frankly you never imagined getting this much. Go stand in the corner and watch the gossip machine in action.

This only works if you're fairly certain there were no bonuses or only token bonuses this year.

The holiday party is during work hours where I work, so I like going to it. It beats sitting in meetings all day!

Ooh... That would be brutal where I work. Our company has two divisions, one of which had a 10% workforce layoff this year. If someone started a rumor that the other division got big bonuses this year, they would probably turn into a lynch mob!

I like our x-mas parties usually. The boss takes everyone out to a nice restaurant along with all the families and tells them to get anything on the menu and all the booze and food is on the company.

Ooooo, my boss is out today. I think maybe I can skip out at 2:00, when our holiday party begins. :D

Our annual potluck it today during open hours. Each department gets assigned something to bring in. Just grab a plate of food and sit in the break room or bring it back to the office. Management is providing the ham this year. Would rather see a holiday bonus. Oh well...

Argh, I HATE "pitch-ins." I refuse to participate in them. At one company I worked at before, it seemed like every time someone sneezed, we had a "pitch-in." I was usually the guy who brought napkins, drinks, chips, cups, or gave money towards the meat, but it got to the point where I finally said "Look, I'm done with these things. I'm going out for lunch."

Who else has to pay for participating in the holiday party? Everyone here is paying for their own lunch and gift exchange.

You should guilt trip them. Say that was your last $30 and you had to either spend it on food for your family or the office gift exchange. You chose the gift exchange because losing your job would mean losing your home. Justify it by saying your wife took a huge pay cut due to the recession and you're just barely making house payments.

Our party started at 2. I am hiding in my office now, waiting for the first wave to start leaving so I can leave too. :)

Unfortunately, my wife isn't working and we just lost our house on my bday a few months ago :(
