And there are idiots ^^

An analog stick might be better for simulating accurate movement, but in any competitive FPS game your movement is either 0 (standing still) 50% (walking) or 100% (running). There's no need for anything in between.

If you're flying something or driving something, a stick is just a halfway point compromise between a mouse and proper control; flight stick or racing wheel.

Mouse-Keyboard is the superior set up for FPSes. Arguing otherwise proves how little you know.

I didn't know anyone was recommending a controller for FPS's. That would be ridiculous. I thought this was more a debate about some 3rd persons.

Shows little you know about the threads that you are posting in.

Because a mouse is better than a gamepad for anything shooter related. Which is what a 3rd person shooter is...

I don't think you're even reading the debate, just bashing me because you feel like it.

There is no debate. There is Master Race and there is peasantry.

This shows the thinness of your stance. This kind of cockiness is just reeks of insecurity.

If you game to compete, that's great. Plenty of people don't. I game for enjoyment, even if it's Titanfall or another MP shooter. Now, it's not that I don't try or take the time to learn and improve my game, but at the end of the day it's still about having fun for me.

Now, whether I choose to use the KB/M or controller [when I have the option] is my decision, it's what I think will help me enjoy that game the most. I've used both modes in enough games to know where I prefer KB/M and where I prefer a controller.

People like you coming in and parroting the "master race" are just juvenile. The sooner you learn that everyone isn't you, the easier life will become.

I'm not against a discussion of merits, but your entitled attitude kills that.

Bashing you?

I called you out for calling someone else out for calling someone who promoted the "Master Race" of PC's an idiot. Because whether one person enjoys a controller over KB/M or even a PC over a console isn't some how a superior gamer.

But I could pick out tons of issues to really come out as "bashing" you.

Like
1. You referenced FPS's and shooters. FPS's are shooters (it's in the name). But not all shooters are FPS's so if you wanted to talk about shooters and not FPS than say shooters.
2. A game that involves shooting doesn't mean it's a shooter.
3. Tomb Raider has about 3-4 heavy shooting scenes in about 18 hours of game play. It's not a shooter.
4. It's mostly a platformer/exploration game and it does require a decent amount of movement granularity along with camera realignment.

But I am not going to "bash" you about it.

I have read the debate. I have participated since the beginning where it really started which was someone who said either should work but I personally found the controller to be the better solution for it. Then it exploded in a Master Race discussion where the could never be situation were a game pad is superior and that its crap from console gamer and no real gamer should use one. I won't debate why someone shouldn't use a k/m because I don't approve a limiting people away from input methods that they are more comfortable with. Even if personally I find several games more comfortable with controller and don't understand why someone wouldn't use one. It's not even because games being ports most of the time its because the gameplay itself lends itself to a controller. Imho TR is one of them.

Welcome to the Tomb Raider (3rd person single player action adventure game) thread...

The competitive fps thread is over there *points that way*

I just finished this game last night, it was fantastic. I used an Xbox wireless controller and a TV - just like playing on an X360 but with much better graphics.

The whole controller vs mouse/keyboard debate is stupid though, use what you like, neither one is inherently better.

You don't seem to be able to recognise hyperbole when it's staring you in the face.

Unless the person I replied to tells me that they were exaggerating "for the lulz," I will continue to believe that they meant what they said. My post stands just fine. I hate "master race" parrots.

Am I the only one that feels that this is only a "decent port"? Upscaled textures aside, I don't feel like this game did anything spectacular or over the top that would herald it as a great "PC" title. It's a port, through and through. It plays well enough with a gamepad, but I prefer the KB/M combo for PC games. It was obviously designed with the gamepad in mind and it definitely should not be "how PC versions should be done".

I'd rather games be designed parallel to the console version like sleeping dogs rather than ported over (even if well done) like TR.

You must be brand new to PC gaming then as PC mouse + keyb games have had walk/run/sprint/sneak key bindings for at least 15-20 years now...

I've been gaming since 93. I still think granular controls are better.

Edit: I played TR2013 with a mouse and keyboard.

I thought it was an excellent game. The graphics and gameplay were both great, and I enjoyed the story too.

I just started it after getting it on the Steam summer sale. Not really my kind of game, as I suck at QTEs and platforming type games, but I like this one so far. And the QTEs dont bother me so much in this as I knew what to expect going in, in contrast to something like Witcher 2, where the QTEs drove me absolutely nuts.

I do wish I had a controller to try out on TR though. I think the loss of precision in combat would be more than made up for in the platforming sequences.

Edit: I agree, the graphics are really nice, even with a HD7770.

I enjoyed TR 2013 alot. The way Laura gets killed sometimes was a bit graphic and disturbing though.
