toe raises

Right now, I use a 2x4 (that is stable). I do toe raises with this but I slowly slip off of the 2x4 so it is aggrivating.

What kind of platform do people use for toe raises? Is it an angled piece of plywood that is the way to go? Would friction tape help and if so where can I get it cheap?

I'm an arm chair woodworker so I can toss something solid together in about 5 minutes.

your idea sounds good. i've also seen people do them on a 45lb plate - depending on the style of plate.

i dont think angles are the way to go tho, the heel is free and the calf is always engaged from what i've seen.

I geuss I just want to eliminate the issues with my feet sliding off the 2x4.

So, you thin kthe 2x4 is hte way to go? or hte piece of plywood on an angle?

That's teh stuff I am thinking of but I don't know where to buy it..... I guess an online skateboard supply store?

or any ol' local skateshop should have it.

or come to think of it, i bet any hardware store would have adhesive-backed sandpaper for cheap. basically the same.

You could also paint it, and mix a handful or two of sand into the paint (or just paint, dribble sand over wet paint, wait a while, then lightly paint again).

Non-skid paint is basically just paint with a LOT of solids in it. If you only need a little bit, go raid your local sandbox. 😉

sand - check
paint - check

I think that would be slippery though. Rather find grip tape. Not sure about brands and such but hte skateboard stuff looks cheap. Like $5 for a sheet.
