Today is national name your mp3's correctly

I am sick and tired of downloading mp3s that are named incorrectly. Who are to morons who do this?

Me--- Searching for Johnny Cash music....come across a song I have never seen before..
Me --"I didn't know that JC did this song"
Well surprise, he didn't.


In order to combat these morons. I am instituting 'national name your mp3's correctly", go through all your shared files and name them correctly.

Come on, its for the good of humanity!
 
i have a friend who is anal retentive about ID3 tags. He personally fixes each one he gets. This person has 5 GB of mp3's, all fixed BY HAND!!
 
This pisses me off too. I searching for a song and FINALLY finding one copy of it on someones dial-up connection, then taking 30 minutes to d/l it and saying "I finally got it!" THEN finding out that it's some crappy Spice Girls song or something! SHEESH
 
Alot of the time its just kids who dont know the difference between one artist and the next.. For instance everything with retro country sound with a male singer is automatically Johnny cash
 
Some people do this for the sharing program Audiogalaxy. Audiogalaxy operators go through and block songs that are known to be copyrighted. For example, Metallica - Hero of the Day would be blocked. But if I go in and type Metalica - Hero up the Day or something like that I might find it. Leave an L out, leave the frist letter off, or just butt everything up against each other, it all helps on Audiogalaxy. Someone will have renamed the song "incorrectly" so that we may be able to find it.

So Im sure some of these guys on Morpheus are also running Audiogalaxy and you are pulling up the shared files for both applications.

Im pretty anal also and have renamed all of my mp3's to this format Metallica-HeroOfTheDay. I think that should be the national standard format. Forget including the album name and all that crap. My way looks good, can be read easily, and is web compatible since it doesnt have any spaces in the name, it allows me to upload it and DL it from another location if I want to.

Anyway, hope that helps explain why. 😛

Your friend is not the only one, I have ~500 full albums and I've re-tagged every and each file.

Kind of like the copy of "Hot Rod Lincoln" that someone attributed to Johnny Cash.

I highly agree with this...I hate downloading songs with wrong names and retarded id3 tags...Also get rid of those crappy bitrates less than 128bps, personally i get everything at 192! Get Encspot and delete those old ass encoded songs lol

Today is national encode CD track into mp3 128kbps, decode it into wav and decode it back into 256kbps day. It will effectively retain the sound quality of 128kbps while appearing to be 256kbps. Pretty soon, they'll be floating around the share pool as 256kbps even though they've once been crippled to 128kbps already.. cough cough.. Nobody said you have to download from my computer. Quit b!tching about it.

Artist - Track # leading with 0 - Track name

and put into a folder with: Artist - Album name

I hate downloading mp3s that are like: 01_prodigy_breathe_(BEATS4FREE).mp3 or some ghetto crap like that

it should be: Prodigy - 02 - Breathe.mp3 and put in a folder called: Prodigy - Fat of the Land

haha what a great rant. at least now everyone knows how I like my mp3's being sorted. when you have tons of mp3s, the variances become the most annoying thing EVER...

The remake of Magic Carpet Ride in the movie Go was not done by The Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim or The Prodigy. It was done by Phillip Stier.
 
nah, sounds like too much work. although since some of us are ranting, i have one. i hate it when you finally find the song you are looking for, and it is a live version, or cut off at the end and they didn't bother having that in the title. so you get a crappy version of the song you really wanted. :disgust:

This is matt, please explain why you hate files sharing programs, thats a pretty strong statement coming from a guy who may have just crapped in this thread. ;0

Artist - Album - Track # - Track name.ogg/.mp3

?

Makes it even easier 🙂
