Its been exactly six months since I have had a drink. I know that's not a big deal to some but for me its quite a big deal.

I am really digging life now.

------------------------------------------

Today is day 1,000 of not drinking.
Its been a hell of a ride!

Congrats!

Congrats Rudeguy! It can be a hell of a ride but it's worth it. After you quit drinking did you ever wake up feeling like shit and thought to yourself did I get hammered last night?

20+ years for me

Congratulations!

So, is that it, done deal? Do you still have any desire for alcohol, or does it ever cross your mind?

I am 100% done today. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

I get the bite when I get real stressed out or when I'm thinking about hooking up with a chick. But I'd rather be pissed off and not get laid than go back to where I was.

I have drinking dreams every couple months. I've woke up and thought I slipped and was completely pissed off at myself. Then I realize its just a dream and everything is ok.

Congrats! Let's go get shit-faced to celebrate!!

I quit drinking in 1995. Didn't touch as much as a single beer for about 2 years. Nowadays, I can have a beer with my meal, and even drink to excess when I'm at a luau on Maui...but I KNOW I don't dare do either of them often. I never was a "beer drunk," I preferred Crown Royal...and put away a quart every night...then, one day, I decided that I'd had enough and quit. It was tough as hell at first...and got slightly easier as time went on.
I never had a DUI, and did more than 99% of my drinking at home, and I don't think I ever missed more than a couple of days of work because of a hangover. (if you're gonna be a drunk, man up and go to work...sick or not)

Joining almost any adult 'club' that meets weekly does the same.

In my 20's I joined a couple Young Adult clubs, it was a hook up every fucking week. I live in a major city with 4+ others within 20,30,2hours away.

Every area had a different crowd. Then they'd have larger get togethers where all the other chapters were invited from out of state. Usually the destinations were florida :) so I'd just get a room for a couple days and hang out.

A different chick or two a night.

I always looked at those dreams as "blessing". When I woke up feeling like shit they helped remind me of one of the reasons I quit.
