Unlike the others I understand your pain. My Fiancee & I have different preferences in pizza. It's tough to find a place we both enjoy and three of them have closed over the years its become our joke that once we find a place they're doomed.
 
Awww man that really sucks Exterous.

A little hole in the wall place we used to like closed last year. The place had fantastic lasagna, but mediocre pizza. In any case, we would feast on their lasagna at least once every month or two.

The old man that ran the place had some health issues and then closed up shop... i miss the lasagna, twas damn delicious.

I will concede that DiGiorno is better than Totino's or Red Baron and the likes. But the king of frozen pizza is Freschetta.
 
Freschetta's are good stuff. But Since the mother in law moved in, the two womenfolk pretty much have most of the meals covered, now we get like 1 frozen pizza per month .... I like Gino's East sausage and pepperoni deep dish over Freschetta, but maybe they are regional/local only....
 
I need to try a few more frozen pizzas. I didn't eat any frozen pizza for a very long period - probably 20 or more years. My biggest complaint was that the crust always ended up stiff as a board. Then I tried a Red Baron Brick Oven Crust, and it was surprisingly good, particularly the crust. For something like $3.

One thing I will say is an advantage to having a million restaurants and pizza joints is that we have some very decent cheap pizza here in northern Colorado, all of it from local places or small regional chains.

Definitely haven't seen them in the freezers here, would try one.
 
I do sympathize with you OP as I remember when my favorite local joint Godfathers went out of business with very little notice. It was years before I was able to find another one and in recent years they've begun making a comeback. Now I've got one just down the street in a gas station that also has a Duncan doughnuts. You can get gas for the car and gas for yourself there.😱😛

I do not get the appeal of places like Timmy Ho's and DD with their substandard fried dough
 
When it comes do doughnuts I love Krispy Kreme. The doughnuts traveling down the conveyer to the glaze shower is just a glorious site. Having the hot light app on your phone or desktop makes it easy to score on the fresh batches.

I quite enjoy TJ's frozen pizza varieties more than any other now: the pesto and tomato and red pepper sicilian are pretty awesome. I usually get some TJ pepperoni and toss it on the Sicilian which, when you use the pepper oil supplied with that, you hit another level.

I don't know that I've tried any of theirs, it's like 45 minutes from my house so I don't go there often. Maybe next time I'm picking up some of their single malt...

Nah, they changed Digiorno's sauce recently (last year or so) and I really don't like it. Every single store brand rising crust pizza is better than current Digiorno's.

I had a Freschetta pizza tonight. Pretty sure this old thread and all the accolades was the reason. I'm not sure what else would have possessed me to try it.

Blah. Very mediocre. The crust was decent, but the sauce was just about as bland as anything I've ever eaten. Won't have it again.

I'll give my update the brick oven place that opened down the street appears to have added nicer tables, ordering area and I think expended into the part of the building that was vacant. We may have broken the curse but it's too early to say for sure.
Bummer is brick oven pizza cools down too quick for regular take out.
