To WoW or not to WoW, this is the question

I played WoW a while back. I started about 4 months after release.

I enjoyed it, for the most part. The game seemed like MMO training wheels. It was trivially easy. I got to level 20 in one weekend! I was level 40 (rouge) by the end of the month (after I rolled a warrior to 25 and a druid to 20).

I did really like the PvP, and some of the PvE was fun. I liked how I could do alot solo, and really excel in the game. I did enjoy not having to think about much while I played solo. I could sorta do it half ass and it would be no biggie. And the animations were fun.

I have been reading about this battlegrounds thing, and thought I might give it a try. But I still cant switch my mindset from EQ2 (50 guardian) to WoW style of play. Also, the honor system MAY make it better (although I liked nothing more then pwning some level 20 zone as a level 30-40).

What do you think? Should I give it another shot? Futhermore, will my charecters still be there? I haven't paid in a long time, the account has been cancled. I would hate to start out at zero again.

I still enjoy WoW after about a year... (Started in December 2004) but after all that time I'm only a level 42 Rogue...

I dont play that often.

Yeah,
I played EQL alot, did alot of raiding. I just got good at MMOs. And, the more time you put into it, the better your toon will be. Thats just the nature of the game.

WoW. Play it. Now.

Must...play...more...WoW...must get teh ph4t l3wtz0rz...must kill more Night Elves...

I have a friend who was a big time mmorpg hater, would never give them a shot, but because he was a wc3 fan he gave WoW a shot....I havn't talked to him in months 🙁 He plays that game 24/7. So if a game can turn an mmorpg hater into playing it 24/7....it must be good 😛

I hit 60 and got bored real quick... Having to rinse/repeat instances to get any good gear wasnt my idea of fun... I hear battlegrounds are pretty much the same deal...

I agree, I hit 60 as well, and once you do, it just becomes item farming. I have been playing since last November.

Waste of time

That's what it seems to me now. I am wasting too much time playing this game knowing I will have to quit later.

Was exactly the same for me. farming, running instance, blah. This winter we'll see what games are out and I may consider going back to WoW. Will start a new char though on a different realm. My GF didn't like me playing WoW, so that kinda plays into the decision too...

I concur. Unless you enjoy raiding, you'll get bored very quickly once you hit 60. The battlegrounds are fun, but on my server they are dominated by pvp guilds with raid-quality gear, so you can't really compete unless you do the raid grind first.

Another person in agreement. Hit 60, did the raiding thing, became exalted in AV. Not much else to do, and I am bored as heck. I am this close to cancelling my sub and giving EQ2 another try.

Yeah, I don't know, I have a 60druid and a 60mage. We are up to Vael in BWL. It's not about the loot to me. It's about coming up with our own strategies to take down bosses that I find fun. This game would be horrible if we didn't have a solid guild, which we do. You have to look at lvl 60 being the beginning of the game and that all the stuff to get there was just like the rolling credits before the film. I don't BG much but it is fun. PVP is there you just have to look for it.

Do not worry too much about the honor system. Any substantial rewards require rank 10 and above, and it takes serious dedication to get to those ranks. To get rank 11 or above you pretty much have to dedicate your life to WoW PvP, as 11 through 14 comprise something like 1.5% of total active PvP population.

The main thing that the honor system + BG has done is to make outside world type PvP have less use, and therefore more rare.

BGs are fun for a while though. And If that's your kind of think you can enjoy BGs for a while even not worrying about honor or PvP rank. If the lower rank items are of use to you, you can get in the Rank 5-7 range with relatively casual play on most servers.

i agree with everyone else.

got to 60... got bored raiding the same instances over and over again.

in the end it's the same as diablo... item farm.

since i've quit i've rediscovered my love of console rpg's hehehe

it's still fun as hell at lvl 60 to go into a low lvl alliance area and just murder the hell outta those alliance pukes....but other than that....my only enjoyment is leveling new pets....thank god i chose to play a hunter, else i'd be bored as hell me's thinks

I'll be playing again in 11 days with my wife, her son and 2 of his friends. We'll all have teamspeak and will level together. I'm hoping that will make for a more enjoyable end game, when we get there. Especially when they release more 5 man content

i thought about coming back for zul'gurub... but i've discovered just how productive i am when i'm NOT playing wow... i was amazed lol
