While checking out Drudge Report Re: the Fallujah truce story, I couldn't help noticing that This is his current headline.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think the incumbent is a feckless moron, but as an ardent P&N voyeur and budding instigator, I want to see what y'all have to say. Here I am now, entertain me. :D

(My own take in this: So what - the election is still 6 months away - America's collective retention ability is only about 10% of that. Only October wil tell.)

This has been part of the Bush smear campaign for months.

Nothing new.

It's sad, really, and now Karen Hughes is jumping on the smear campaign bandwagon. Is the Bush campaign this desperate that they have to keep beating this dead horse for months??

I heard on CNN that some of the new Bush attack ads will again revisit Kerry's voting record on military programs and weapons. You'd think they'd have learned from the last time (factcheck.org has continuously PWN3D the Bush smear campaign.)

I guess nothing says fun like attacking individual items on an omnibus bill

Dubya will restore integrity to the White House even if he has to lie, cheat, and steal to do it.

yawn, here is conjur taking these guys word as the end all be all again, come on if you saw these profiles:

Brooks Jackson
Director, Annenberg Political Fact Check

Brooks Jackson is a journalist who covered Washington and national politics for 32 years, reporting in turn for The Associated Press, the Wall Street Journal and CNN. At CNN he pioneered the "adwatch" and "factcheck" form of stories debunking false and misleading political statements starting with the Presidential election of 1992. His investigative reporting for The AP and the Journal won several national awards. He is the author of two books: Honest Graft: Big Money and the American Political Process (Knopf, 1988) and Broken Promise: Why the Federal Election Commission Failed (Twentieth Century Fund: 1990).

Kathleen Hall Jamieson, PhD
Director, Annenberg Public Policy Center

Dr. Kathleen Jamieson, Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, has written extensively on the press, politics, and presidential campaigns. Her research into deceptive political TV ads produced techniques that are now in common use in TV "adwatch" stories. Among the many books she has authored are: Dirty Politics: Deception, Distraction, and Democracy (Oxford University Press, 1992) and Everything You Think You Know About Politics...and Why You're Wrong (Basic Books, 2000).

Zaheed Mawani
Research Assistant, Annenberg Political Fact Check

Zaheed Mawani earned his B.A. in political science at Middlebury College. He joined the Annenberg Public Policy Center in April, 2002 and has contributed to reports on issue advertising and early childhood development. He has previously worked in public opinion research, including work on the 2002 election cycle at Peter D. Hart Research Associates.

No. But if you can find anything on their site which shows a liberal slant then I'd like to see it.

I think factcheck.org is probably the most objective source out there in evaluating the campaign ads. They give Kerry hell too. By and large, their tone is fairly even in regards to both candidates.

Kerry responds on Good Morning America

So it was Ribbons and Not medals he threw across? Still the point is, he threw something given to him as an honorment by the US across the fence. Not wether it was metal or a ribbon.

Right...and he's never denied doing so. The actual medals belonged to other veterans who had asked Kerry to throw them for them. Kerry threw the medals after the ceremony.

Seriously, why is this even an issue? Is it illegal to protest something now? Is it unpatriotic to demand accountability of the administration? The current one sure thinks so.

I say we dredge up Bush's past, too, get those DUI and Cocaine convictions unsealed and find out the truth about his National Guard duty if we're going to focus on the actions of people from 30+ years ago.

GIBSON: senator, i was there 33 years ago and i saw you throw medals over the fence and we didn't find out until later -

KERRY: no, you didn't see me throw th. charlie, charlie, you are wrong. that's not what happened. i threw my ribbons across. all you have to do -

GIBSON: someone else's medals, correct in?

KERRY: after -- excuse me. excuse me, charlie. after the ceremony was over, i had a bronze star and a purple heart given to me, one purple heart by a veteran in the v.a. in new york and the bronze star by an older veteran of world war ii in massachusetts. i threw them over because they asked me to. i never --

In Kerry-speak, "I did not throw my medals just before I threw his medals...I don't own an SUV, my family owns many SUV's."

And the problem with that is? It's perfectly logical. You just want to try and force everything into a black-and-white picture of things and that distorts facts.

GIBSON: let me ask you, too, about two other things that you have said. subsequent to that. 1985, you said to ""the washington post,"" it is such a personal thing i did no want to throw my medals away. then 1996, you said to the ""boston globe,"" i didn't bring my own medals to throw because i didn't have time to go home and get them. which one was it?

Which is it? Both, of course. I "did not want to throw my medals away because it is such a perspnal thing," and, besides, I would have to drive home to get them and there wasn't time, but if there was time to drive home, I would have, but I would not have thrown my medals away...I would have fixed a sandwich. So you see, I can have my sandwich and eat it, too."

Whatever. Kerry blatantly lies. Even over trivial stuff. Yes all politicians lie, including Bush, but Kerry's mouth is his undoing.

And quit saying smear tactics, or how the republicans are attacking Kerry. The DNC is just as guilty of attacking Bush as the republicans are at attacking Kerry.

Hey Galt: For a moment there, I thought you were injecting your usual sarcasm. That was, until I read the transcript from GMA.

Anyway, remember Steve Austin on the opening sequence to the "Six Million Dollar Man" TV show?

"I can't hold it any longer. She's breaking up..... she's breaking up."

And to think that I've strongly considered voting for this imploding dork - the reserve naval officer who negotiated with Communist NVA and VC in Paris during his first honeymoon. Indeed, he has a distinguished service record and should be applauded for as much. However, it looks as if his activist days are coming back to bite him in the ass.

Needless to say, if this is the best the DemoCRAP party can do, then we, as a country, are certainly in deep trouble. Sheesh!

Waaaaah...waaaah. What a crybaby.

Any attack ads by the Democrats are on the issues (sure, there's been some rhetoric, though). The Republican smear campaign attacks a person and their character with misleading statements and half-truths.

Have you also noticed that everything that is thrown at Kerry sticks, and everything
thrown at Bush just bounces off... Don't figure..

Surely no one could be so blind as to think either party is above smear tactics.

You must not value your credibility.
