It seems to me that the stores in the area reflect the social and economic standard of the area. We have a few Walmarts around - One I will never go into or near. It's on the edge of the city line. The others in the area are always clean, friendly, always have what I want or need, best prices. Even during the Christmas rush, these stores are kept to a standard that far exceeds many other places around.
As far as them putting other business out of business it is just competition. Every mom & pop shop would love to make it the way Sam did. Some maybe don't but those who do just didn't have the idea he had and they were crushed under the buying power Walmart generates. That's business. Do you think Trump would be where he is if he didn't crush his competition?
Employees, at the stores I know around here, are treated fairly. They are given stock options, chances to advance, parties, discounts. Nobody crying around here.
And to the point of the distributers and suppliers. Walmart states what price they want to pay for the good offered, they give a quantity that is far greater than any other chain. These suppliers are happy to be on a Walmart shelf. Don't kid yourself to think that Gold & Blue label toothpaste is loosing money because they have their products sold at Walmart.
My experiences are obviously quite a bit different from many. Like I said it seem to reflect the area the store is located. Don't forget how many Walmarts are out there, the on you go to or refuse to go to is not how ever Walmart store is.
