Some people have questions about how the company treats its workers.
Others dont like what it does to small mom+pop stores.

for me, i dont care. I like the cheap prices. They can openly whip the workers in plain view + i'll still shop there.

as for the mom+pop stores, it's called competition.

So if you used to shop at Walmart, but have stopped, WHY?

I dont shop there unless i have to (ie last week went to get rechargeable batteries for my brother), otherwise i go to target or fred meyer. I dont like their practices, but most of all i just dont like their products compared to other places.

Warlords and empires have failed throughout history to do what Walmart is slowly, inexorably, accomplishing.

Soon the whole world shall bow before the might of Walmart!

I stopped because of the crazy long lines. People buying load of grocery creates slow long lines so I don't save any money shopping there. My time=money. Another big negative is that the stores are nasty and messy.

Target has replaced Walmart for me. Lines are short. Stores clean. Competitive prices.

too damned crowed and ppl don't know how to use self check out. that and the ONLY good self checkout system I've ever seen is at the Greenbelt Giant (maryland).

only thing I really go for is mobile 1 synthetic, $20-22 for 5qts.

I haven't gone there recently only because the one near me has just gotten incredibly ghetto. There are little kids running around everywhere in soiled diapers and runny snot bubbles, homeless guys INSIDE the store asking for handouts/money, people being mugged in the parking lot on a DAILY basis, and the black ladies with attitude that will just cut in line thats already 10 people long cause its their god given right to get up there first to find out she can't pay for that new DVD AND her babies food with foodstamps, the entire store just reaks of poor too (or maybe thats the mcdonalds inside?)
I'll still go to the "super" one on the opposite side of town just cause its in the "rich" side of town and they have like 50 checkstands instead of 5, keep it smelling decent, and have the whole whipping workers in the aisles thing ;)

Pay attention when checking out. A number of items, especially produce, ring up at the wrong price when I shop at Wal Mart. And the price is always higher than the price marked. Also checkout clerks seem to accidentally scan the same item twice with some degree of regularity. And here's the killer. You take an item to customer service to get the price corrected, buy the same item again a week later and it still rings up wrong. I asked why customer service didn't correct the price in their sytem and was told that only the department in the store could correct prices. Seems like they know people are getting ripped off and don't mind refunding the price difference for those who are willing to wait in their customer service lines.

I still shop there, but, as little as possible. I prefer Target and the Grocery Chain (Publix) for 99% of the items.

Pricing isn't much of a factor, the other places are comparable. They are also faster and typically cleaner.

The way they treat employees.

Also, all the fat bastards who clog up aisles.
Wallyworld is a fat magnet.

WalMart is the retail equivalent of a third world country. I don't live in a third world country and I don't shop at WalMart.

great, you aren't helping out third world countries by boycotting their goods.

Every walmart around me (roughly 5-6 within 5 square miles) has horrible checkout lines... Even when they have 10 registers open...

I stick to Target.

Wal-mart not only puts mom and pops out of business, but their monosopy power puts pressure on their suppliers to lower their prices, in turn putting people out of work and even offshoring jobs. This may be fine for a company like Johnson and Johnson, but for smaller sellers it could break a business.

Actually I am for globablization, lower prices and a better standard of living, but I think it is unfair that Walmart is one powerhouse of retailers realizing this new direction of the retail market.

edit: Not only realizing, but using their muscle to put pressure of everyone else to do so.

Neither are WalMart shoppers helping by buying those goods. WalMart is the only entity profiting from said goods.

Stores ive been to are big, dirty and disorganized. Bad service. Long Lines. Stores are overcrowded, parking lots have carts everywhere that could ding a car.
