Just because one plays within the bounds of the rules, doesn't automatically make it right. If someone said something nasty about someone i cared about, i would be very upset too.

The reason America is great is not because we have the right to free speech but because her citizens know how to use that right effectively enough to not cause hatred and revolution.

For all other nations that have free speech laws the same is true as well.

I take it you've never read the posts of oniq or tinkerhell? There's a difference in people being jerks to each other on a message board and spamming someone's e-mail box. There's a PM button above my name, and I have an e-mail address at which someone can send me a non-spam e-mail. If he was upset he can click on either one and tell me so. He doesn't have to try to attempt to be an anonymous coward and spam my box.
