To NF7-S and overclock pros...I'm getting scrambled video bios screen after overclocking fsb to 190

I have an athlon 1700+ T-bred B (JIUHB 0302MPM), abit nf7-s ver1.2 motherboard, and 1 stick of Kingston HyperX PC3000 memory. I set the bus to 188mhz, booted into windows, and prime95 ran fine. I then set the bus to 190 and I got the normal beep at post but got a scrambled video bios splash screen. Does this mean the memory can't handle the 190fsb (the ram is rated at 185)? I suppose it could be that I've hit a wall in my overclocking, however I don't think this is the case because I got the normal beep at POST (which means that the cpu overclock settings are fine). Any suggestions?

what timings are you running on your ram?

did you lock agp freq?

(although i dunno if it does anything, my 9700pro works just fine at 200fsb and keeping agp freq to "auto" on a7n8x dlx 😕 )

What card/drivers? The HyperX doesn't like the Cat3.2 from ATI.

Shimmishim: running 2,2,2,6 timings - could overextending the memory make the bios splash screen scrambled?

try relaxing the timings to 2-3-3-6 and see if that fixes it...

try relaxing the mem timings and try increasing the chipset voltage
