To get a Dyson...

So I have with me a Linen N Things coupon with no mention of Dyson as being exluded, making the DC07 $320 or the DC15 for $400. Our old vacuum is a POS Hoover special from Amazon that never really did that much, other than burn out belts. Is the Dyson really worth it?

I see people saying that the Hoover Windtunnel is better, but we are lazy and the bag would never get changed.

Don't waste your money. There are plenty of equally effective vacuum cleaners for half the cost.

I don't know about the Hoover, but I'm a Dyson DC07 Full Kit owner, and I can honestly say that the thing is awesome. It beats the crap out of the dirt devil that I used to have, and it makes you want to vaccuum even if you don't like vaccuming. :p

I have two cats for what it's worth...

I think I got mine off of Amazon refurb for ~270? No problems with it yet for 1.5 years.

Well, if you get a Dyson, don't do like my GF's parents. They bought one about a year ago, and it's still brand new in the box.

No, because when I want something, I want it now. I don't care if I can find it online for $30 cheaper. That won't put it in my hands today. :p

I just found out that there may be a better deal at Target, people are scoring them for $199. I'm off!

I have a Dyson DC14 animal vac and its hands down the best vac I've ever used. It picks up dog hair, popcorn kernels, anything even embedded in the floor.

Last night while I was vacuuming my basment it pulled a chunk of gold that was embedded at least a few hundred feet below my foundation in solid bedrock.

Now that's suction!!! And, as you can see, it pays for itself.

My Dyson replaced a POS Windtunnel. It was worth every penny. And I have two cats, one of whom sheds constantly and heavily.

Get the Hoover knock-off at Wal Mart for $117. Suction like youo would not beleive. I was a beleiver in the Dyson but the Hoover knock off at Wal Mart is superior. Claims 17% or better suckage.

PRICE BREAK $99

Dyson's kick ass. I NEVER though I could justify paying that kind of $$ for a dammed vacuum cleaner, till we tried a Dyson in our own home. WOW...If the Target thing doesn't work out, then by all means, use the L-N-T coupon. We did. A $110 coupon is hard to beat.

Back, and it was a failure. Apparently some Target stores have the pink Dysons on clearance since It's not longer Breast Cancer Awareness month, but none around me have them. For $200, I'd deal with a pink vacuum. :(

Although I realize this is not what you are asking.

 I have to agree with this. I really dislike bag less vacumes. Canisters are much more versatile in my opinion. Its the Kenmore Progressive. I have the orange one with the power head. Loads of features and it has a hepa filter. However, with the Sears brand hepa bags I am not sure you need it since I have yet to see any dust in the bag chamber after having it for a year and a half. Large amounts of suckage with this one.

I really want to get a Dyson. But I own two dirt devils that still work and the b/f went into a huge rant in the store about spending over $500 on a vacuum cleaner while already owning two and how I didn't need it, just vacuum more often and yada, yada, yada...

And I did not have a good enough justification to argue his points, so I did not get one. :(

But I still want one.

Who's doing the vacuum? If you're doing the vacuum, tell him to shove it and get the Dyson.

From what I hear they're good, but there are much cheaper vacuums that are just as good (~$200 range). Of course anyone who has one will insist they're worth the money, because nobody wants to admit to themselves that they wasted money. ;)

500 bucks is very cheap for a quality vacuum cleaner.

The dyson still runs circles around my 2000 dollar cannister vac. There is no comparison. The dyson really is that good and at 500 bucks it is a bargain.

That's always the truth in the end.

I've also read that while the Dyson excells on bare floors, they are mid-pack on carpet, which may not be so farfetched as, since it was designed in Britian, the Brits are not into wall-to-wall carpeting as we in the U.S. are, instead using area and throw rugs around their bare wood floors.

We've a Hoover Windtunnel self-propelled, a couple of years old, that pulls anythign and everything out of the carpet. I ran over an 18" length of chain made of 1/4"-long links, and that vacuum sucked it into its bag. Made a horrible racket getting passed the beater brush and motor, and I was sure I'd damaged the machine, but the chain disappeared.

Fortunately, the vacuum is still working quite well, as we have 3 dogs and 4 cats inside so hair control is a must. That little Hoover, actually isn't so little really, just makes all their hair disappear. And the bag system is MUCH cleaner to empty than those bagless systems. NO matter how well the bagless are designed, you have to pour the crap out, and you get bombed by a dust cloud. The bag.....just slides off its fitting, gets put into the trash bag, new bag slides on. No dirt, no dust.
