i picked up a refurb kirby off ebay about a month ago for $235. I will never use any other kind of vacuum again.

well, I have to say that the dyson SUCKS! 😀 As in, it has sucked up everything and more from our rugs!
What a HUGE difference it made in the look of our carpets!!!
Really worth it!
 
There's the "Hoover Fusion Vacuum (Possible dyson Clone) at Wal*Mart for $98.88" that's all over the hot deal sites. Too late for you I guess.

Me? Wood ($2800) and tile ($1200) floors FTW! No crappy carpet that wears out after a few years.

A few years? 😀 My parents have carpet in their house that is 20 years old and isn't showing significant signs of wear.

I too have all hardwood floors (tile in the kitchen), but I have rugs on those floors too. 😉
