To all you non-caffeine consumers - how do you do it?

How do you get through the day without caffeine? I used to be like LordMaul and Syringer, caffeine-aholic. But after it felt like my heart was going jump out of my chest, I decided to give it up. I've gone 9 months without caffeine. But recently, I been getting really sleepy at work and home. If I'm at work, I'll get up from the computer and take a walk to stay awake. If I'm at home, I usually just take a nap. I get 8 hours of sleep a night and exercise 4 times a week.

Just curious, how does everyone else get through the day without caffeine - exercise, vitamins, healthy diet, what's the secret?

I excercise, take vitamins, and have a healthy diet.

And I love caffeine. Nobody is going to take it away from me. In limited amounts it's perfectly safe and can even have some benefits.

I go through half asleep and with bloodshot eyes . . . . .

not really, I just drink a soda at lunch, and thats all the caffine for me, and i gotta be awake at 5:45 to get to my job this summer, too.

Well,
1. I don't like the bitter taste that coffee has.
2. Coffee makes me feel dizzy and faint

I gave up soda and never noticed myself being sleepy during the day. Then again, I never had more than two cans of any soda a day.

Once in a while I have a soda and the caffeine keeps me up all night:|

Hey....are you stalking me? You're not old enough to the forums to remember my 200oz Speedway Mountain Dew incident. 😛

I don't drink much caffeine compared to most people. I usually don't drink pop at home, just at work where I'll have 2 or 3 depending on how tired I am. Sometimes I'll slam one down right when I get to work to wake myself up.

I've been on the wagon since December 2002. I don't have a problem with caffeine, it's the heartburn that gets me. I'd be suffering from horrible indigestion induced by coffee, yet I'd be drinking a cold cup of that crap! That's retarded! It was hard to quit, and I still miss it sometimes, but WTF, I can live without it just fine.

I think sugar can make you sleepy after you come down from a sugar buzz. You might want to check that out.

You realize, of course, you're going to have to tell us relative newbies all about that now.

I wrote a huge mini-novel (well, big thread anyway) on it back in the day...if you can find it, you get a cookie. Obviously, it's archived. 🙂

Hmm... odd. I dont think caffeine has any effect on me. I almost never drink coffee (but I used to mix a bit of coffee in with my hot chocolate at work during the winter). I do drink a fair amount of soda, however, which I am trying to cut back on because I want to get in shape quick, and I don't notice any side effects or anything. caffeine alos never made me alert or non-drowsy or anything.

One word, splenda. A single packet of splenda is enough to take the edge off of my coffee, two packets would probably make it sweet enough you'd not even notice it.

I get up ass-early for work, considering how late I stay up. I need my coffee in the AM. I actually go into work a little early, I've timed it so I get there right as the first pot of coffee finishes brewing.

I've been caffeine-free for over 5 weeks now, and I feel better than ever. Cutting out caffeine, increasing my water intake, and cutting way down on sugar has caused me to have MORE energy, and no more energy "swings".

I no longer feel tired at work, tired after lunch, hungry between meals, etc. It's like a new me! 😀

eat an apple in the morning, take a vitamin with lunch, excercise after work/end of day.
