Monkey,

did you try to do what DanC said? Kill the process, check your config.txt for anything that looks odd and then manually restart the client....if all else fels try a full wipe/redownload...if that fails i can package the muon1 program w/ all the settings w/ ur name and send it to you after i verify it working 🙂

What version are you running?

What executable as well? - background, command line, or graphical?

I've found some systems don't like graphical - and some don't like command line.
I've never had a problem with background.

What OS are you running?

I'll probably transition my fleet over to DPAD (about 40 computers) when SETI is over with, so plan on having another new teammate then 🙂

Newest version, tried every executable, running Windows 2000 Pro SP4.

hmmm. Bizarre. I'm running it on Win98, Win2K, WinXP - no problems at all. This is very strange.
Are you running any other DC project concurrently?

I've had the same error message on win2k before. I even tried logging on as admin and had the same error ( was trying to do a service install with soni's files)

On a K6-2?! Are you mad? 😀

Probably. I've been doing this DC thing for a long time. 😉

Dunno what to tell you. I've exhausted all my trouble-shooting thoughts....
although-- it's arguable that Win2K on a K6-2 may be somewhat on the outside of the envelope.

Got Win98? 😉

Nah. I ran SETI on a K6-2 Win2KPro setup. Took a LONG time to complete a WU, but other than that, it worked fine. We used it as a multimedia/presentation server in our boardroom. 99% of the time it was just sitting there crunching. 🙂

Have you checked permissions (read-only, etc.) on the files? How about security access? Have you checked the HD for bad sectors?
