<< ...was the ics chips luck of the draw? >>

No it is not...for a small up charge (extortion?) you can purchase guarnteed ICS board from ATACOM!!

mmmm...me likes extortion if you get what you want 😉lol

thanks fkloster

BTW, it has already been exposed by our resident Intel employee that there is ZERO difference between P4's that are assembled in Malasia vs. Costa Rica... the Die's come from Ohio in any event and costa rica or malasia is just for final packaging.

FWIW:
The $329 evga ti4600 is O/C'ing as good as the $400 750XP Gainward golden sample

but it really doesn't matter, since you have more money than god.

Dont forget to get one of the new Antec PSU that have separate 3.3/5/12V supplies, no sharing

I realize that...and am a good friend of Pez. Actually they are made in Hillsboro, OR...but anyway...perhaps the packaging makes a differance...who knows. I just know more success out of malaysai...

I have heard around the grape vine that the Gainwards aren't stable @ their advertised speed :Q

Looks good. Just a couple of suggestions..

First, I would save your money on the Swiftech unless you are doing some crazy o/cing...and it sounds like you're not if you are only cranking a 1.8ghz up to a 2.4ghz, 533mhz FSB. The Delta is even more overkill on such a cool chip. The retail HSF with some AS3 would be more than sufficient, and if you want a bit nicer, go for Alpha's new P4 cooler for close to Swiftech levels of performance. Just throw on a nice Panaflo 80mm or something similar. I am running my 1.6A @ 2.56ghz now with a 628mhz FSB (157) with nothing more than the retail HSF and one Panaflo intake. It ran fine and cool even without the Panaflo intake, but summer's on it's way so I threw it in.

Second, maybe consider the Gainward GF4 Ti 4600. It will probably o/c a bit better than the Leadtek, and it comes with a nice bonus...a firewire card. That's more just my personal preference though. 🙂

🙂

Hey Insane how are you? 🙂 ...the only reason for the overkill cooling is that I am COMPLETELY anal about this thing being stable. Some people think stable is 95% stable...some peeps think stable is 90% stable. Not me....I must have 99.5% stability lol anyways, I have a cool dynostat to control the delta speed so on hotter days I can crank up the speed of the screaming loud 8k fan...cooler days I can turn it down 🙂 I hear what your sayin' though...thanks for the input!

Then why bother with overclocking at all? Spend a few bucks more for a chip that is guranteed by INtel to run and get to WORK! 🙂

Cheers!

lol, I would shark, but Intel has not released the 533fsb yet...

fkloster:
Plz let me Know if the P4T-E T1 Mb they talk about on their web page "atacom.com" has a setting for the Turbo Mode for Rambus ram in the bios or on the board as they state on the sight. They have not answered my question by E:mail yet;5 days past,So I,m wondering about the valulity /? of the Board.I could not find the Asus model they mention with those spec at Asus site.Thx,s

PS:If anyone has the above P4T-E with Rambus Turbo Mode setting on board with the spec,s as "ATACOM.COM"shows plz let me know plz.

rumors say they [533MHz FSB] will next week

Everything I've been told points to late May as the earliest introduction of 533MHz FSB P4's in the U.S. May 6th is when 533MHz FSB supporting i845 chipsets will be launched in the U.S.

We won't see 533MHz FSB P4's for at least another month.

BTW fkloster you made good choice in products.Should be an a$$ kicker rig.
I,m waiting for the 2.4 with 533 fsb,I hope I can hold out that long 🙂.

oops my bad 😱, I retract my statement, the 2.4 GHz to be released next week are of the 400 MHz FSB variety

I love my P4T-E. Very stable for such a high overclock I might add and no extra cooling needed except for some ASII on it instead of that thermal pad that came with it. Nice and quiet rig too compared to my Athlon setup. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours too!

I'm pretty sure the MCX478 uses 80mm fans, I could be wrong though. You may want to check it out before you buy that eardrum destroying 60mm. Just get a quieter 80mm and you'll be much better off.

Don't forget some chemically induced finger grease to mix in with the ac3 before puting on that sweet heatsink. 😉

I have a feeling you'll be runnin faster than 2.4Ghz after that. 🙂
