Now why they didnt do this with the AMD version I dont understand. ASUS has been doing odd things lately I cant make sense of.

There are two versions of the mobo. One with WiFi and one w/o WiFi.

The heat pipes seem to be a bit of a problem for those of us with btx format cases though. Seems like the r134a will not be as willing to reach the heat sink when it has to travel down after it's vaporized, and up once it's cooled. hmmm... I suppose replacing the heat pipe system with a chipset hsf isn't out of the question though. Unless someone can correct me on my thoughts about the function of the heat pipes on this board...

It kinda looks like ASUS is going with the heatpipe technology lately because of their lousy chipset fans. If they continue with it some people will have to go with another manufacturer other than ASUS. Hopefully they can work something out soon. DFI and others dont seem to have the same amount of problems with the fans.

This might be a dumb question (yes, reletive to the general pop of this forum, I'm a huge noob), but would there be 3-pin fan plugs near the chipsets for the HSfs? Is that something I'd have to contact Asus about? Or is it usually pretty standard on a board, even thought it ships with heat pipes?

Yes, liquid51, there are NB and SB fan connectors, probably for people mounting this puppy upside-down, when pipes don't work very well...

You can see them at:

I'm waiting for this mobo - I think I'm gonna like 6-phase power system 🙂

Could you remove the heat pipe and apply a water cooling solution?

Which one would provide better NB cooling?? They both seem really cool though

literally 😛

here's a thought. I've bent brake and gas lines for some custom car builds before, has anyone ever tried to rebend heat pipes? Just copper, should be soft enough. They could be flopped and the hs relocated. hmm... If it ever happens, I'll post a pic =P

atacom.com appears to be selling the board, as there is no info reguarding unavailability, but It's most likely another mistake.

It says ETA is 10/28

Yes, its also set up for watercooling according to ASUS. Not sure whats involved for it though. I'll leave that answer to the watercooling experts around here.

has anyone heard anything at all on other nforce4 SLIx16 boards? I am particularly interested in seeing DFI's.

I'd order from buy.com, but I don't know what date they are supposed to get it. I preordered with Isorm.com and it ships out on wednesday.

Your pretty optomistic about that! I hope it really does ship out for you on that date but I sure wouldn't bet on it.

Tedhbrown,

I hope your board arrives on time. I am also thinking of purchasing this board and wanted to know if it would fit in an Antec P-180. Additionally, I am also planning on placing two EVGA 7800 GTX KO boards and one X-FI Soundblaster Extreme Music card. I've heard of concerns about PCI cards and spacing on this board when using SLI.

I'd appreciate any feedback your board arrives.

Thanks

I have an Antec P180 as well, and I hadn't even thought about it not fitting. I don't see why it wouldn't, but hopefully I'll be able to find out this week. I also ordered an EVGA 7800GTX, with possible plans of expanding to SLI soon.

ISorm customer support said that Asus is expecting it's delivery from China on the 19th, and will ship them out directly from California. I'm very hopeful that this date will not change, and as of right now the isorm website has not changed its ship date. Fingers Crossed 🙂

EDIT: Also, with all these other stores starting the preorders, seems to me like it may finally be coming close to shipping.

Kristopher, are you going to review this board soon?
I need the new one for my new system - something quiet, with decent overclocking ability and working with X2 w/o voltage problems. I would buy this new DFI crossfire board, but I need high USB performance and at least 3 internal USB connectors (what do you need 6 usb ports for at the rear of the case, DFI???)

Can you tell us if A8N32 is worth waiting for? Anything about 8-phare power system, bios tweakers etc...

Thanks

Pawel
