I'll try to push a review. I am speaking with ASUS in a few hours about some other boards; they might have something else more interesting in the works.

Let us know Kristopher 🙂

Is there something with HD audio? Is Asus preparing Ati480 + Uli SB combo? Anyway I would prefer nVidia with HD...

I may end up with some temporary cheapo if there is something worth waiting for...

I'm looking to get one too. Only thing I don't like about it is the PCI port layouts. Luckily I only have one PCI card to fit in (belkin pre-n wireless) but the entire layout of the PCIe and PCI ports is pretty poorly done. I want to use the PCI port above the second PCIe slot, but that might get in the way of the bridging connect between the SLI cards depending on how wide the wireless and GFX cards are.

I may be wrong, but I think it only presents a problem if you have extra wide video cards. My eVGA 7800GTX seems to be pretty thin, so I don't think I'll have a problem with my one pci sound card, even with SLI.

Well those bastards at Asus delayed it 2 weeks. I'm not waiting two more weeks, so looks like I'm buying another motherboard >:|

I love how Isorm tells you not to trust them
lol

:*ETA is supposed to be November 9th now but cannot trust this date they keep changing it. :

I bought the Corsair XMS-3500LL just for this motherboard. Too bad they didn't ship it out when they said they would. Now I have to wait a few days for the CC charge from isorm to come back, so I can buy another motherboard. ARG!

yeah, I went ahead and ordered the XMS-3500LL too. But I decided to go with the A8N-SLI until I deem the full SLI neccessary. I don't even have a second video card yet and after the money I spent on the x2 4800, I don't see another evga 7800gtx ko acs3 in my near future...

Skott,

Thanks for sharing that information. I'm thinking of purchasing this board, but after taking a look at the top-down picture of the board with two graphic cards:

http://hothardware.com/image_popup.cfm?image=big_slipipes.jpg&articleid=739&t=a

I may have to opt for the a8n-sli premium. The only PCI card I need to install other than two evga 7800xt KO's would be an already purchased Creative X-FI XtremeMusic card. The card is rather high and it seems by the picture and comments posted on the above URL that it would HAVE to fit between the two 7800x and may not be able to fit under the bridge connector. Am I seeing/reading this correctly? I believe the review stated the last PCI slot is unusable with two graphic cards. I was kinda hoping to slide the X-FI on the last PCI slot...

Any comments?

Thanks

Yes - thants also my poit of view. I was waiting for this mobo for potentially better voltage controll and very nice cooling, but I need at least 2 PCI slots (sound and TV tuner), and even as I'm not going SLI right now PCI fit would be thigt. And for sure I want Zalman VF700 cooler on my GPU. Not enought place 🙁 They decided to get rid of PCI to soon in my opinion. If they only had HD-audio I would accept this, but this way I'm buying A8N-Premium tomorrow... And I don't want to wait any more. This ETA date shifts makes me sick...

Zanta - You would have crazy high GPU temps on a bottom GPU if you install your audio card on very botton PCI slot...

Micha,

So, would you think the X-FI would fit on this board between the two 7800's? What about that bridge for the two GPUs and then the airflow? I too think I will just go ahead and place an order for the a8nsli-premium this week as this new board was holding up the building of my first rig! 🙂

On a side note, if you purchase a CPU in a Retail box with HSF. Does the HSF and CPU come connected together or do I need to do that after the fact?

Look at the picture:
Link

It seens that this bridge connector is flexible. If X-Fi fit, I don't know - it depends on how high your video cards are (if they are the same as X-Fi, you shoud be fine...)

In retail box you have CPU and Heattsink+fan separatelly. You have kind of thermal pad applied to heatsink, but I suggest to change it with something better. So you just need to instal bare CPU in mobo socket and after that just place heatsink+fan on top of it. It's very easy. Just don't use to much thermal paste - apply as thin layer as you can 🙂

Hope it helps

From the review on HotHardware

In addition, you get an SLI bridge connector, but it looks like ASUS has had to go back to the flexible ribbon cable version with the A8N32 SLI Deluxe. This isn't quite as robust, in terms of staying fastened to the cards, as the rigid PCB version. Unfortunately there wasn't much of an option here if you wanted to populate either of the two PCI slots in between the board's two PCI Express graphics slots.
