That is great! Thanks.

My gripe about this board:
I Like the X4 slot but I wish it had one more x1 slot, I know in the near future I will run out of PCI-express slots quickly. I cannot wait for more products based on this chipset to come to market. If these were in stock I would probably buy one. But maybe it is for the better, I will let the eary adopeters find out the problems and I when one finaly becomes avalable I will get a Revision 2 board.
:)

When ZZF, puts it on their website it usually gets released within 1-2 weeks. It has been on there website for a week. My guess, sometime this week, since it's the beginning of the month.

Rumors around other sites say it was supposed to be released last week of September, most were giving the date of either the 23rd or the 25th, so it should be hitting shelves soon

Not necessarily...

Reviews so far show the Premium is better performing, but it could relate to the settings!

edited: ment to say settings, not drivers. Sorry I'm at work and wasn't thinking! LOL

I retract this part of my post. I thought the two center PCI slots were in fact PCI-Express x4 slots or something. I need to lay off the crack.

Edit again: Hmm, now that I think about it, I'm a little leery about putting a sound card or physics processor between two hot graphics cards.

--

Plus, I thought that current PCI-Express video cards don't even hit the x8 bandwidth limitation, let alone x16. Is this another one of those 'better interface without any real-world gains' upgrades? Or are there substantial benefits to having x16 available to each card as opposed to x8?

Is it just me or does anyone else see the potential problems of running two video cards on this mobo and not being able to use the other PCI slots? I'm wanting to build a new system and use two 7800GTX cards. I was thinking of getting the ASUS or eVGA OC cards but as thick as they are I dont see how I could use the PCI slots in between. To me this is a problem that sticks out like a sore thumb. Cant imagine why ASUS didnt see this. Tweaktown didnt even mention it. I guess if you are running video cards only on the mobo its not a problem but what if you want to add a sound card or something else that requires a PCI slot or in addition to it? I'm a little dissapointed in the performance on the benchmarks as well.

Also, in answer to the original poster's question, one rumor I heard is that the new mobo is to be released to all vendors October 6th. But thats just an unconfirmed rumor I heard on the net.

I read somewhere that new nVidia drivers are coming out that allow to run SLI without the little bridge connector. Maybe Asus knew this ahead of time and decided to arrange the slots like that............

No they did that so their TOP dual slot Vid cards can get proper cooling. Their drivers as of now allow for use without the bridge connector, it just lowers peformance about 5-8%.

Yet another SLI board that leaves me feeling lackluster. I want Asus to produce an Ultra board with some gusto as apposed to the current A8N-E, maybe a Deluxe version soon.

EXCELLENT! Thank you. I have been waiting for this motherboard. Just placed my order with 2 day shipping. I have a X2 4800+ and 7800GTX waiting for it. The only thing I'm worried about is memory compatibility. They don't have a manual on the Asus site for this yet and I only have the Corsair Value Select memory. If I have to have new memory I'll buy it though.

Sweet! I'm still trying to find out if running dual cards on this mobo blocks the other pci slots or not. Nobody has done a thorough review of it yet. TweakTown only did a review with two video cards and nothing else. I sure hope at least two of the pci slots wont be blocked when running dual cards.

Dirtrat...please let us know about the Vcore...if it reports the same as it is set in BIOS, or if it doesn't work properly like the rest of us A8N-SLI Premium Owners!!! Thanks!
