A few nights ago I was on a team with generation 9 people. I dunno how they got there so fast. They were communicating a lot and working together really well.

Damn.. I thought I play a lot, but I'm just now getting ready to regen.

Haven't played cod ghost since TF's release, and decided to give it a try for the free onslaught weekend. I can't believe how boring it really is. Ghost is such a major camp fest. I'm not crapping on ghost or cod for the sake of doing so out of hatred or anything or to be cool. I've been playing and supporting the franchise since mw1, and getting them at midnight release... even ghost, and had lots of fun with ghost. Even played once more before TF release.

I just can't believe how much better TF really is after trying to go back to ghost.. that's all.

Yeah, I feel the exact same way. TDM is a severe camp-fest and at least on the XB1, all the other playlists only have a few hundred players in total. I haven't tried any other playlists yet figuring they'd be laggy as hell. I do need to try them though.

All Titanfall DLC modes will be free

So says Vince Zampella, studio co-founder. "DLC is in the works, not quite done yet [though]," he told a Twitter follower last night. "Don't think we've announced a date yet."

Three Titanfall DLC plans are planned, comprising maps and other content - you'll get access to them at a discount as part of the game's Season Pass. Respawn also plans to update the game with new features such as private match support free of charge.

"Modes we release will be free to all, not part of DLC," Zampella added.

Nice!

Is that worth celebrating? I mean, I've never heard of paid DLC game types myself. Halo 4 basically had a weekly rotation of new game types in matchmaking, and none of that was a buy-in thing, unless they were providing DLC-specific game types (which was only a problem once, because they made Team Slayer a DLC-required game type for a week). I'm not saying this isn't something to like, just wondering if there is a previous occurrence where there WERE paid game types or something.

I don't think that's it. It's cool because it's free. With a lot of companies and developers looking to monetize everything and take advantage of a game's popularity, seeing someone offer free content is very welcome.

But like I said, this is content that isn't ever paid. They're still monetizing the things that are usually monetized, so I don't get what the big deal is. This is almost a mirror image of Halo 4, who similarly offered free game types and $25 for 3 DLC packs.

Are those burn cards something you can pay for to get? I wasn't sure on that.

No, you get the burn cards randomly as you play and level up.

A lot of additional content these days is usually released as a part of a DLC pack. It can be anything...a weapon, a hat, a skin, an outfit. The fact that they come out and say "we are working on new modes that you will be able to download free of charge" is great. They aren't keeping it a secret, they want people to continue to play the game. Announcing free content ahead of time will ensure people keep going for a while yet waiting to see what new stuff comes out. If they said nothing, there would inevitably be a group of people who won't be buying the DLC who would eventually stop playing under the assumption that they've had their fill and anything extra would come via DLC purchases. This is an EA published title too and it's rare that EA gets any good press but they are being mostly hands off it seems on this title which is a good thing in itself. In an industry dominated by publishers and developers looking to milk every dollar they can, this is very good news.

Anyone else find deals on the map pack? I'm almost 1st generation and I feel as if I should just get the map packs so I don't get bored.

Maybe this was discussed before, but does anyone else find that not knowing the maps particularly well isn't as much of a hindrance as it is in games like Ghosts? I typically play Hardpoint and I find that as long as I keep heading in the general direction of the hardpoint there's almost always a route that is pretty straightforward.

Eg - let's say that I'm heading to a hardpoint and there are several buildings in between my current location and the target building. If I duck into any building along the way, it always seems like I can quickly find a doorway out the far side of the building. If I happen to go up a random staircase from the first floor there always seems to be a window or balcony somewhere on the second floor on the side closest toward the hardpoint. It's almost like you can quickly head through a building and just assume that there will be an exit right where you need it.

Maybe I'm just going crazy.

The mode that matters a lot in regards to map knowledge is Capture the Flag.
If your team doesn't know the map well, it's hard to keep the game close and eventually get a win. Being on a team that knows the fastest routes to capture and keep the opposing team from capturing is vital. When you're playing against people who are Gen 5+, they tend to know the maps like the back of their hand.

I tend to arc mine the "fast" routes because that is typically the route experienced players will take. Experienced players will toss a satchel or use some sort of explosive to clear flag mines so you can't count on saving your flag by simply mining it, people are way passed that trick already (dammit!).

I can't tell you how many times I've single handedly won our team the game by simply playing defense. If they can't get your flag, they can't capture it. :D
Not everyone has to be Rambo, which is why I love this game.

That makes sense. I'll try CTF tonight and see what that's like. I've only played Hardpoint and Attrition so far.

Spotted today in the playlists: "Improved matchmaking (beta) lobby"

"Experimental lobby that re-matches you to new opponents based on skill every few matches" or something of the like.

But as I'm sitting in it, only a couple people filtering in and out of the lobby. Doh.

EDIT

Got into a full lobby. No one below Gen2. Many Gen 4+. Several Gen8. Game of severe try-hards & campers. Why the eff would I want to play that? I had no issues with the regular match-making. Lame.

Well I guess the matchmaking wasn't really fair before this. It was completely random. Which I guess is what makes the game easy, was that you had no issues scoring kills since you were randomly matched up. It's starting to turn out to be tough on pc with everyone being gen5+. I felt like I was playing call of duty at one point lol, killed immediately. Then another time I played with all gen 8+ team members and the opposing team never won any match.

So that's why they are matchmaking it like it is. What they should do is match all gen people together and all the rest based in the other levels. So if you are level 25 you are put in with level 25-30 players, 30+ same thing, 40+ match with 35 and up, but from a software coding perspective it probably wasn't designed like that.

I bet their previous matchmaking was using something like math.rand() lol.

I'm okay with Random. If I wanted to play try-hards, I'd go play one of the DLC playlists in COD.

Splitting up by Gens would be fine with me. I have no intention to go past Gen 3. No motivation.

I know what you mean. You don't really get anything when you gen up except maybe an extra perk or something. But with this game being easy to level up in the lower levels eventually it was going to go that route I feared.

I'm really enjoying this game but I find it harder and harder to play with randoms in my lobby. Most of my friends I play with have odd work schedules and I can only play with them at 10pm or later and it's much more difficult to get a win with these random players. The game either matches me up with decent teammates or god awful teammates and it's annoying as hell. I'm not a "try-hard" but I do actually want to WIN a match. Also rank does not matter in this game one bit, the only thing that matters is how you play the game. I've been matched up with gen8 players and stomped them, and I've been matched up with low level non gen players and had great fights. Sometimes this game does feel similar to call of duty with the spawn system and campers aren't a huge problem but they're there. I like the game but it's increasingly hard to play without a real team.

For ctf.. I recommend stryder titan. Get to enemy flag area, camp out until titan comes in, call in titann grab flag, junp on titan, run home. Hopefully, no one on enemy team is ussing perk that let's U see through walls. Great anti camp perk.

Also, staying alive and learning to use Titans is key to this game. I still feel you're at a much better advantage with the Titan than without. Would also recommend holding off Titan fall until teammates rain em down.

Also, I think smart pistol is the worste primary in the game. Don't know why people think its OP. If anything, the AR is kind of OP, but it might just be bc its easy to use. I think the burst rifle should get a little buff to make it competitive with the carbine. Shotgun is great as well for cqb.

Finally got to play some more tonight after a week+ hiatus. I succeeded in finishing off all the challenges for the default R-101C, up until tonight this was the only gun I was using, so I decided to try something different. Picked up the G2A4 and even with the iron sights, I love it. Once I moved up to the other sites, this is my go-to gun for a while. I love the single-pull trigger and while it doesn't help much in close battles, I can use this gun to pick off guys a pretty good distance off without fear of reprisal.

I also finally unlocked the arc mines and once I get better at placing them, I'll get a lot of free kills. Anybody know how long or even if those arc mines persist after death?
