Hey guys, I have a real problem. I am a major fat ass. I feel my longevity is being affected greatly because of this. Some days I wake up and it?s hard to breathe and I feel like I have mud running through my veins in place blood. I am getting married in December to my beautiful girl friend. When we met each other I was in great shape but since then I have really let myself go and I feel like I am cheating her out of having a good healthy partner. I need to get in shape but I don't no how to work out; i.e. - what exercises to do, what to eat. I need a routine. What can I do to get in shape? I need to lose weight around my stomach and chest and build muscle at the same time. I have noticed in the last year my stamina is GONE completely. Playing football last week with guys my age was embarrassing, for the first ten mins I was great but then it was just gone, I couldn't run or breathe and had to retire early from the game, this was very embarrassing.

Help me guys, I feel like I am dying here, I am in a slump I can't get out of! :|

Eat healthy, balanced meals and exercise. Jogging is a good way to start. You could also try hitting a gym. Cut out sodas (drink juice or water instead) and sugary snacks.

Punctuation is your friend. Look at the nutritional facts on the back of the can for an explanation.

Cutting back the calories will drop the weight until you are able to run and what not. Try swimming or some other low impact exercise.

First thing, do what I did...

Stop drinking soft drinks and stop eating fast food!

I swear if you did this your weight would drop w/o any other changes to your lifesytle.

Also, (this is probably the hard part) When you are eating your meals, DON'T be going back for 2'nds or 3rds! Just eat your meal slowly and you will feel just as full after 1 plate.

Next up, add some cardio workout to your day. A good 30 minute run each day will really help you out.

The thing about losing weight is, you dont really notice it. You dont go from 250 to 170 in 3 months. It takes time. Eventually you will see an old friend and they'll be like "Holy sh!t Stefan! You're thin! I didn't even recognise you!"

Fast food is a biggie for me, its the only thing to eat around my work (McDonalds and Burger King). The only thing they serve in the cafeteria at my work is bugers!! What can I take in my lunch? I know fruits but I need subtstance!

It's ALL about cardio. Run, run, run. If you do this often enough, you'll burn everything off at an alarming rate. You just have to speed up your metabolism a lot. Eating healthily will do next to nothing for you if you don't pick up your metabolic rate.

When I was rowing, even eating 6 square meals a day caused me to lose 10 lbs in 3 days. I bumped it up to 8 square meals a day and managed to keep a decent weight. Since I've stopped rowing, I can get by with 2 full meals and a light one and I won't lose weight. Anything more and I'd start to gain a bit though.

Dude, go to the grocery store! Get some sliced chicken or something. Buy some apples, carrots (baby carrots are good), banannas, etc. Hell, you'll lose weight and your wallet will be a lot heavier.

One thing that I am not saying is that you can never eat junk food, or have a burger. The key is moderation

I am 20 lbs overweight myself and I try to stick to the gym but somehow I get busy with work and then before you know it I stop going altogether.
I also eat a lot of chinese food which is full of grease and crap which aint helping either.

What got me working out was a couple things: one, there were real, measurable results. i could lift more one week than i could the week before.

Second, I found stuff that I really like to do--this summer it was swimming with my dog.

The important thing to know here is that it doesn't matter what you do as much as it matters that you do something. Rome wasn't built in a day, so work up slowly. Go for a walk listening to music (and don't bother looking at other people on the sidewalk) until you're a little tired, and try to go a little farther each day.

Friend of mine got in shape bicycling; now he's doing really well. Find something you like and do it.

Write down what you do, and try to stick to a schedule.

Drink lots of water.

I personally think you should start off slow. If you rush into things immediately you could hurt yourself. I think you should start off by just stretching daily. Then after stretching you could any of the following:
1.) Jog
2.) X amount of normal push-ups
3.) X amount of push-ups with your hands closer together
4.) Crunches
5.) Sit-ups
6.) Any type of cardio/aerobic exercise to burn the fat.

In conjunction with this you need to change your diet. No candy. No fast food. No junk food. No soda. No snack food. No desserts. edit insert Sure you can eat all that stuff just in moderation and you'll lose weight faster without the extra food. I think juice, milk, and mostly water is alright. Eliminate the fat in your diet, take it off the chicken, red meat, etc. Maybe eat less red meat, with more variety of chicken, fish, vegetables, and starch. Oh yea dont forget the fruit.

Oh yea whatever type of schedule you do, you're going to be hurting and waking up sore. Since your body I guess isnt used to this type of excercise or workout in a long time since you've been idle. Just remember to stick with the schedule! I guess once you lose some weight and up that metabolism you can do the weight-training. I hope what I said helps.

Brown bag with a home-made sandwich? PB&J? Make a salad with fat-free dressing? I think you'll lose some weight once you get yourself off the fast food.

Edit#2
Dont eat after dinner

No beer. No potato chips. No fast food. No deep fried food of any sort. Lots of water. Lots of fruit juice. Lots of fruits. No needless salt/sugar. Lots of exercise. Lots of sleep. Stop eating when you're no longer hungry.
