Unless money is an problem buy one of the nicer ones with the BIG ice/water department.
Having the ice maker in the door is a great option too as it allows more fridge room. Just keep in mind that you have less space for ice with that option, but it may never become a problem until you have 3 kids and a wife or throw a big party and run out of ice.

LG probably has the best ice/water dispenser around right now. It is amazing how something like this will effect your enjoyment of the fridge.

The top one looks like the one I bought a year ago. It may be expensive, but for something that will last 10+ years it is worth it.

You should look into the Sears Outlet. They have good deals on lightly blemished items.

Get a brand that is locally manufactored. They are made for your climate conditions. also parts will be readily available. avoid unknown brands

we have a samsung (faux stainless) side by side and i love it.

it has the water dispenser in the fridge, and the ice cube maker in the freezer which was odd to me at first.

Yeah, my width is 35, and so far, i say 90% of the fridge I like, are 35 and 3/4 or 5/8

So I only have a few that I can pick... went to the store to look yesterday, I think I'm going to avoid the auto ice maker.. my pipes are on the other side, and I would need to run a new line for it.. too much work.. I can always buy it and not use it till I renovate the kitchen.

I'd avoid much of the new fangled designs on refridgerators unless they directly apply to you. Focus on what you are looking for and then find the models that match that.

As far as 3/4-5/8" make sure your cabinets can't be trimmed first. It's an easy process. Same with raising a cabinent above a fridge. Water line is also simple, it's just tubing. You tap your cold water line and it's just like running wire.

If you do trim use plenty of painters tape and make sure the guy cleans his saw base first. There are a lot of morons out there and even more that think "uh it's a kitchen counter, it's gonna git scratched"
