I wish that's how it worked here too. I love when I go to a place and they tell you that they dont accept tips. That's how it should be. Just pay them a decent wage and drop the stupid tipping idea all together.

Tipping's great. Not tipping is fine too. It lets me know who I need to serve (bartender), and who I can let stand there for 20 minutes.

That's inane, and a customer service killer. They should be equally pleasant to all customers, and guess what, you can always try 'being nice and cheery' to them if you want to give them an incentive

Agreed. I hate that tips are even a part of the system. I'm sure if the government would go ahead and step up, they could take over and fix things. The problem is that service industries don't want to pay their staff when there is no business. The tipping allows the service people to lose out when business overall is poor by sheer volume, but gives them a chance to get 1 or 2 big tippers to make up for the overall loss of volume..
