tip is used for: paying for services (good waiter/waitress services, paying the dishwasher...stuff like that)

you don't do that for takeout

I went to Chilis take out with my friends. When the guy was leaving I said do yo need a tip and all my buddies bursted out laffing.
I didn't feel embarrased as it would've been really rude if I was "supposed" to. Should've read Anandtech OT first eh? :D

Ummm, not quite. If anything, people need to be treated equally.

If it's curbside pickup like Outback, I always tip couple of bucks since a person comes out to your car to hand you the food and take the money. If I have to get out of the car and go into the restaurant to pick up the food, usually no tip. But if it's large order, I always tip.

Not unless it's raining and I get the order delivered to my car instead of me having to go in.

So a general NO!

No tipping for take out. In fact, the food should be cheaper than if you dine in. Less effort required on their part.

Takeout containers and supplies are not free. It's also time consuming to pack takeout.

This is true, but I would think that these costs are less than the labor costs of a waiter/waitress, and the cost of the water and dish washing services, etc.
