I agree with this.

As a net receiver of property taxes, I think its very important to preserve as large a taxable base as possible. One of the ways of achieving this is by having regulations on tiny homes.

I hate the tiny house "movement." You know, we always had people living in tiny houses, they're called white trash but you won't see them on HGTV so people changed the name to make it more marketable.

Put a ribbon on white trash and call it a tiny home.

Aluminum skin vs wood paneling. NEW Modern interior decorations and furnishings that just need 10 years to look dated and worn out.

How well do you think unfinished construction grade lumber is going to look in a few years if they don't paint or stain it? That ladder and window casing and ceiling all are completely unfinished. Won't be pretty.

I would guess that the family that puts forth the effort into a tiny home will put forth the effort into maintaining a tiny home.

The problem is not the house it's the owner.

and seriously, what the fuck is wrong with this? some of those airstream interiors are ridiculous. (which is not to say that the above mentioned picture has a sick ass interior, but hey they're old and the rent is probably cheap)

Tiny houses are just hipster trailers. And, on the show, the vast majority of those morons move onto their parents property.

Yep. Unless I made one myself (to cut costs), I don't see why I wouldn't just buy a camper or mobile home. This movement is essentially the hipster mobile home.

Property tax is immoral, and shouldn't exist.

OP, in my professional position representing the AIGBGLA (Association of Indoor Giraffe Breeders of Greater Lower Alabama), I take umbrage at your assertion that tiny houses should be limited to one story. Such narrow minded bigotry is nothing less than a micro-aggression against those non-traditional but loving pet-extended families seeking nothing more than acceptance and affordable mobile housing with adequate headroom.

My support group, Tiny House Tippers Anonymous, isn't very happy with you either.

Off to search youtube for videos of giraffes happily tossing people through the air using just their necks.

And then imagine how unhappy those same giraffes would be if kept in a tiny home with only one story. That's all we here at the AIGBGLA ask of anyone.

I had never heard the term 'tiny house' until I was researching RV living.

I read a few books, watched a ton of videos, and it is something I think I would like. I'm currently in a huge house for one person or even two; 5br 3bath, and all I have time for is caring for the damn house and yard. I love the idea of a tiny house, just like I liked an efficiency when I got out of the Army.

I think it's 13' as a rule to height, and if you want to fit two stories into that height then good luck, but height should always be the issue, not stories. I just wish I was like many of the people doing this, that have a good friend with like 20 acres that allows them to park their tiny house there.

One of my best friends said "Don't be one of those people..." when I first mentioned the idea. I don't get the hate?

Sorry to drag up my 8 foot by 8 foot base argument again but let's say the square foot limit is 200 sq ft for the tiny house. Some people can enjoy living a room that's 8'x8' including me especially if it's multistory. So you can easily go up to 3 stories in the 200 sq ft of living space.

But again imho even with a base that small the 3 stories would defeat the purpose of a tiny house from an appearance point of view. Not from a functional point of view. People would look at it and say that's freaking huge because of the intimidating height of 3 stories. Or "jeez it's a f'ing tower that guy's living in." Some people would anyway. That's assuming 7' ceilings and a half a foot to a foot in between each floor for structural support and flooring & ceiling thickness.

So with that wordy argument I hope I've persuaded some to think 3 stories is too much esthetically even though it fits under the 200 sq ft. The only thing left is to use part of my reasoning combined with something else to show that 2 stories is too big for a tiny house for appearance. Or with the looks of two stories maybe it's all just a matter of personal preference concerning the thread title.

I would say if you have a 3 story tiny house you have missed the point of a tiny house.
