I said yes, and he tells me that TWC is throttling Netflix streaming, and that most of the calls they get are from TWC customers. He tells me with 100% certainty that TWC is throttling Netflix, and that the two companies are "in talks".

This is what I figured the cable cocksmokers were planning on doing when they put download caps in. Eventually make the Netflixes of the world semi- or entirely unusable for their customers, and then essentially extort money out of these companies. Or as they'll probably spin it, make them "our exclusive corporate partners in our quest to provide you with the optimum internet experience."

Although I'm surprised that it started this soon, and really surprised that they're so blatant (and stupid) as to throttle traffic from specific companies.

Verizon only charges 15 bucks for the lowest speed dsl.

NetZero charges 10 bucks for dial-up. What's your point?

If the entire nation switches to NetZero, we can save billions and be out of this recession.

it would also cut down on piracy A WHOLE LOT. Fuckers wouldn't pirate the latest games because on dial up, even 1 gig takes an ungodly amount of time. a DVD-9 game? NOBODY downloads that on dialup. So it would in turn help the software companies too. Since 95% of what I do is check email and IM, dialup is fine for me.

Thanks alot, pirates!

#1 alot= a lot (two words)

#2 there is more that just pirates causing this:

Legal music downloads
Legal movie downloads/streaming
Legal use of broad band by students for school
Legal use of broadband by businesses

so as usage goes up, yes, even legal usage so does the price..kind of a supply/demand thing.

#3 you're welcome.

Really? The people who break the 250GB Comcast cap are doing it legally?

So how many torrents do you have going in the background right now?

Let's go back to VHS and cassette tapes too!

EDIT: Let's all use 386's because converting a DVD rip would take years!!!

What you ISP lab dogs also failed to realize is that you're allowing your masters to regulate your freedom, but I guess you're used to that sort of things. I on the other hand would like to have the ability to download or use whatever bandwidth I PAID for, anytime I wish.

If you like 'regulations' so much, move to North Korea. That way you won't have to worry about anyone having too much of anything, because they'd only have as much as you do, and nothing more, because you don't need more or use more, why should anyone else right? I mean, Jeebus forbids if anyone should do anything else you don't, because that would be absurd.

... Life is goode eh comrade?

If I stream an instant netflix movie via playon through my PS3, that's at least 5GB right there. Buy a new game or 2 on steam? there's another 5GB. Suppose I watch a movie a day and buy 4 games a month, that's 170GB. Add in my TF2 play time, L4D play time, random downloads, hulu watching, renting blu-ray movies off PSN, wife's browsing and email, kid's heavy flash site game playing and it isn't difficult to get to 250GB a month every month legally

Piracy leads to less software being available and developers not even wanting to make PC titles any more out of fear nobody will buy it and everyone will download it.

Technology doesn't always make shit better, you mentioned cassette tapes, I still buy tons of Vinyl as it sounds better than CD's. And the last movie I watched was actually a VHS because I don't think they ever released it on DVD...
