American constitution society responds

"Today, the conservative-captured Roberts Court made law what former President Nixon once infamously asserted – that when a President commits what would otherwise be a criminal act, it is not illegal. It is an assertion that was met at the time with horror and disgust and today’s decision is worthy of the same response. It defies reason that our courts cannot hold accountable Presidents, with the vast power that they wield, for their criminal abuse of that power. And yet, that is the conclusion that the Court’s reasoning would reach.

Analysis of the Court’s decision should also put Trump v. United States in the context of recent history to appreciate the extent to which the Court is fundamentally restructuring our government and society to suit its ideological preferences. In decisions like Trump, Loper Bright, Corner Post, Biden v. Nebraska, SEC v. Jarkesy, the Court has asserted that while the President can break the law with a type of immunity typically only enjoyed by kings and autocrats, the regulations his or her agencies promulgate can be overridden by an all-powerful Court who simply disagrees with the policies advanced, and Congress has little say on either account. This is not what the Constitution demands."

Thank God this Supreme Court has also ruled that the 2nd is a check on tyranny. With this ruling it certainly seems like they are begging for the 2nd amendment to be put into action.
Yea I think prj 2025 has a word on that

edit: Also, Beau be like end of days vibe

That some people don't believe this thing says what it does really is a testament to just how fucking insane it is.
I think this is absolutely correct.

The ruling says the president can kill anyone he wants at any time. There is definitely a thing where if something is crazy enough people simply won’t believe it’s true because they can’t imagine something so bad will happen. That happened today.

It also won’t matter. The courts will rule D’s acts aren’t in official duties, and R’s most certainly will

As you've made reference to, something I'd like to see from the conservative supreme justices is them attempting to approve of the gifts they gave to Trump while preventing Biden from exploiting those very same gifts. By doing so, those corrupt judges would only reinforce the fact that they are totally corrupt in the worst possible way and should be removed or neutered by an expanded court.

Sadly average citizen isn’t aware of this and congress is powerless to do anything until they votes are there to impeach and remove

@pcGeek I hope you would agree that this is a ruling we should respond to with violence. The president is not above the law and if the Supreme Court says he is the right answer is to remove them.

I'm from Australia, but I would like to offer my understanding and support for America undergoing a transition to a Monarchy.

Its not that bad.

A little extra pomp and ceremony here and there. A few more entries in the gossip mags. A slightly thicker skin on your forehead as you salute your betters. And a love of Corgi's ofcause.

😛

They just played Biden's response on Australian TV. Sleepy Joe vs Emperor Trump... easy choice in the end. Trump might see it as a win now, but I think it will bite him at the election.

So it's up to the lower courts to determine what is an official act and what is an act as a private citizen? If Trump doesn't like how the court classifies his actions on Jan 6th, can he appeal that to the Supreme Court too?
