I'm moving. I had this Verizon Triple Play with 2 year agreement for $99/mo which will expire perfectly at same time.

I haven't turned on my set top box over 3 months. And we don't even have a phone to use the landline it comes with. We are basically paying $99/mo for 50/50 internet.

Go to Verizion Fios website and try to find internet-only pricing, I dare you. Everything gets redirected to Triple Play. It's ridiculous how much they're shoving down Triple Play down our throats.

1. For those in METRO area of major cities, how much do you pay?

2. Anyone know any particular good deals with internet only option in Northern NJ?

RCN in NYC - 100/10 service with extremely basic cable costs me ~$75/mo (after taxes and fees). I have a feeling I could get a better deal if I called them (based on the packages they currently offer new customers), but I'm kind of lazy. It originally started ~$55/mo 3 years ago for 50/5 service with the very basic cable.

Seriously though, if you have FiOS, dont bother trying to switch to anyone else, FiOS is about as good as it gets in the US besides google fiber or municipal fiber.

I pay about $175 per month with almost all premium channels except for Cinemax and probably some others I never notice. That includes 50mb/s downloads. But my VPN effectively limits me to much less than that. No phone service, use a VOIP company for that.

Verizon FIOS 50/50 with local HD TV for about $75 a month after all taxes and fees included.

There's a local Brighthouse deal that's 75mb internet for $35 + taxes and fees that looks attractive, but since my roommate actually watches the Sunsports channel which is included in our TV package (plays all the baseball and hockey games) we haven't considered switching.

Tampa is a great city for internet, and Google Fiber is coming in the next 3-4-5 years or so.

You're doing it wrong. Call them and tell them you can't afford that much every month and you want to see what they can do to lower your bill. I don't k now about the really basic tier, but you should be able to get 50Mbps for $50-55/mo for a year. Set a calendar reminder, call back before it expires, do it again.

I have FiOS moving from Comcast.

No TV. Its very good. Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and OTA antenna. Can't believe how much I enjoy basic OTA as background noise.

The big selling point of cable back in the 90's was a better picture. No snow. Those days are long gone. I have no idea why people put up with the slow boxes, bad guide, etc. I use a PS4. Its extremely fast to navigate around the menu's. Wouldn't use anything else IMO.

I'm not from a major city, so I shouldn't answer. I cut the cord years ago because I am a cheapskate. I'm also a cheapskate on the internet. I get Time Warner Cable's 2 mb/s $14.99/month plan (I bought my own router so that is all I pay). It does the trick as I average 2.4 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down. I can have three Pandora streams running at the same time with light internet browsing without any problems. I can stream Hulu with no problem. Netflix has some stutters though. But I don't mind a stutter here or there to save $420/year over the next option worth getting.

Instead, I mostly just have DVDs now. Instead of paying $99.99/month, you can buy 3 to 5 seasons of your favorite shows each and every month and have them for life at no extra cost.

And when your bundle expires you get a surprise bill for $220-$270. So you spend an entire evening trying to get it lowered but that requires even more of a bundle for $170, their new two DVR special, who knows how they could possibly bundle even more shit. Then when that one expires you get a surprise bill for $290.

No thanks. I'm paying $60/mo for internet.

$90 a month for 150mb Comcast with ok cable and HBO. We do have a 300gb cap that we hit each month and they charge me an extra $10 per 50gb for the privilege.
