What does SNR have to do with how loud or quiet the player is?

High SNR only ensures a clean signal, it isn't even that great of a quality indication since it says nothing of distortion.
Anyhow, the iAudio 5 is interesting but I still think the Nano is a better grab. AAC and OGG are pretty equivalent and near transparent at the commonly used bitrates (128+ kbps) so I don't really see the point of having OGG support unless if you already have a large Vorbis collection. It's hard to argue with the Nano's smaller size AND lower cost. In addition you'll have access to iTunes for online music, to me the Nano is head and shoulders above everyone else in this category.
As for the scratching: who cares, it's an MP3 player. I guess if you're looking to make a fashion statement it might matter; but to me, babying an MP3 player is the last of my worries. MP3 players are utilitarian.
