Well, I know that you have a blind spot as to the causes of murder.

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion as I didn't even discuss the causes of murder. Don't be silly.

Yes, for white men of similar age groups who are victims of homicide another white man is a perp 85% of the time. That's somewhat in the same ballpark as the 96%.

It sure is. It also holds true for other crimes. Considering this, why don't we hear about white on white crime in your opinion?

HOWEVER, and try to follow along here, this might be difficult for someone like you to understand, HOWEVER, for men ages 15-25 homicide accounts for HALF, yes HALF of the premature deaths for black men while it's considerably under 10% for white men of the same age group. So which group is doing the most killing?

I didn't address this at all, I was just noting how dumb it is for people to consistently note that black people kill mostly each other as if that statistic meant anything, considering that such a thing is true for just about everyone.

And more importantly, while the black community is outraged over white cops killing black men (and justifiably so) why are they not outraged over black men killing black men? Why is "black lives matter" only a thing in the tiny percentage of homicides when the killer is white? Where are Sharpton and Jackson and the riots and the protests when a black man is killed by a black man? If black lives matter, why do they matter 4% of the time and not the other 96%? Take your time and tell me how the "dumbest stat" accounts for that disparity.

The black community spends an enormous amount of time and resources attempting to remedy that situation, you just don't hear about it because it's not considered interesting or newsworthy. Did you really think they don't care about violence in their communities? If you actually think that I have to question when the last time you were in a predominantly black community was.

Your stat that I referenced was dumb regardless of anything else we have discussed as it has no meaning when put into context of the percentages that other races kill each other at. (its correlation with segregation of communities is insanely high) That's why it's 'the dumbest stat'.

Ok. I don't hear about it on the news, but they still are trying to remedy it right?

Ok, so when was the last rally/parade/march/<insert any act that has been consistently been done over and over for when it's a white on black crime>? Where is the "Hands up don't shoot!", or #blacklivesmatter sayings/hashtags for black on black crime?

Oh there isn't any? Take a seat.

As someone who grew up, went to school, and lived quite a long time in a predominantly black community, I can say nobody gives a shit. When a cop kills someone, people take notice. When gang violence happens, the only people who give a shit are those directly involved (parents of the poor kid shot).

I like how the thousands (millions?) of hours invested by people in programs to reduce violence doesn't count for anything but a parade does.

Yes, take a seat. You're clueless.

People take more notice of that specific moment because it's a more sensational event. I can't speak for whatever community you grew up in, but for most of my time in NYC I lived and worked in predominantly black communities and they most certainly gave a shit.

Here is the thing: You are proving his point. Those thousands of hours have gone unnoticed by most of the US population, unlike the parade. If their program to reduce violence doesn't raise awareness of it's impact, it isn't a very good program.

ding ding. We have a winner.

Yet one stupid incident (that proves to have been false of the accusations) can ramp people up into protests to fly down to a city, march in multiple big cities, and not shut up even when proven wrong.

They are programs for the community, not public relations gestures. A program's success or failure has little to do with whether or not it's reported on in the news, because getting reported on isn't the purpose.

Either way, it in no way proves his point. He wanted to know why people were only acting when it was white cops shooting black kids. That's not even remotely close to the case.

Lulz.. This forum.. I can't.

Yeah but aren't a lot of blacks in New York actually professionals that recently immigrated from Africa? I'm sure ghanian doctors give a shit.

How much you want to bet most of the community doesn't know about the programs in question?

The lion's share of people are only acting because a white cop shot a black guy and a racist narrative was played on the news, regardless of the actual facts. The facts are the largest thing killing black males in America, is other black males. But, that certainly doesn't sell papers.

*Black man resists arrest. White cop shoots him.*

Stop resisting arrest.

Stop shooting people.

What else do we really need to talk about?

What about all the people that are getting killed without resisting? Or are you just going to hand-wave all those away?

Look at all the instances of cops killing people for no reason. Once subdued, cops can't execute people. At least they aren't supposed to, but somehow they and you have decided that any illegal activity frees them up to do whatever they want...beat up people, shoot them, tase them, anything goes.

#BlackLivesMatter isn't about all lives, it's strictly about black lives. The hashtag/movement is specifically about how black people are killed by police and others with little consequence. #AllLivesMatter deflects attention away from that fact/perception and attempts to coopt the movement.

Relevant to this thread, moving to #AllLivesMatter would be akin to me arguing that instead of talking about the supposed 96% (I'm not gonna verify that) of black people killing black people that we should give equal weight to the number of white cops killing black people. Obviously, that's not the discussion people in this thread want to have. #BlackLivesMatter is being used for a very specific reason.

Yes it is. To perpetuate ignorance and racism.

Attic said it well above you. Rights shouldn't depend on your demographic, and all of these separate movements trying to push for rights for specific groups just alienate everyone not a part of that group, and do a great disservice to true equality.

You are over-analyzing the simplicity of this.

Police need to stop shooting so god damn much...period.

Also, people need to stop resisting arrest so god damn much...period.

Take them both or separate them, doesn't matter. We'd have a whole lot less drama without either of them.

No, at least not as a percentage of the population. Median income for black families in NYC is considerably lower than the citywide median.

What else do we really need to talk about?

How about the major issues of cops that take it too far escaping punishment? This latest case is the first in a long time of the justice system actually working correctly against a dirty cop. Most get off easy or scot-free.

Cops should be held to the same level as civilians or higher. It's always struck me as ironic that as a civilian CCW holder I'm held to higher lethal force standards with harsher punishments than police.

Police are supposed to be professionals and have rules. Therefore the two items should not be linked, unless you are trying an "both sides do it" false equivalence.

Should people resist arrest? Nope. But police are supposed to be trained and follow the law and not beat the shit out of people or flat out execute them for daring to not follow police commands.

Remember if you are black and comply you still get shot

Sickening thing about this in additional to getting shot victim apologizes to the POS cop.

Because it's not the same problem that black on black crime is. Are you truly so monumentally stupid that you think that question was intelligent and could possibly work in your favor?

Let me draw this to scale since you have difficulty understanding

Now, which is the bigger problem?
Which causes more deaths?
Which needs to be dealt with the most?
And yet which one has an entire segment of the population up in arms while the other is ignored?
And who, pray tell, is to blame for the bigger problem and who needs to be at the forefront of fixing it?

Take your time.
