You're only what, 17? Time hasn't begun to fly yet. I'm 23 and it already feels like time's going at mach 1 and yet, I suspect it hasn't even reached half speed.

I don't remember much about HS anymore, it was wasted space for memories in college

I guess the insane number of brain cells I've killed off isn't helping either, and I'm only ending my Soph year

Hehhhhhh....pfffffffft! High school is completely meaningless. What you perceive as "your world" is so incredibly tiny and w/o bearing. You just can't see that yet.

Out of all the people you graduate with, you will NEVER speak to, hear from or even see at the grocery store, 95% of them. 2% will die within a year. Another 2% will go to jail. 1% you will "keep in touch with" for oh...four months.

By the time you actually grow up, you'll see just how stupid life was back then. And you will lament becoming an adult b/c that means "Work. Work. More work. Pain. Bills. Agony. Work. Oh...did I say "work?"

Enjoy life now, young one. It is all downhill from here. The good part is that someday you'll have your own place and can do as you please.

BTW, did you get your Dad a real present for Father's Day or did you go with the $14.99 tie?

ps

Time does indeed fly by when you are not paying your own way in this world. Car insurance, medical insurance and FOOD costs money. Too bad for you that you don't know that yet.

I'm 73 years old. Life only gets better as you age. Life is fun and full of excitement. Congratulations. Enjoy it! Don't be discouraged too much by people that failed in life and therefore try to pass off some of their overflowing misery onto you. Misery is all they have to share. It's pretty pathetic.

don't worry. college is fun.
Lies.

I dunno... getting parents out of my life and some serious money in my pocket definitley was the best thing that ever happened to me. College might suck in itself, but moving on with life is awesome.

It can also be quite scary and depressing. Ive wanted and still want to move out really bad but at other times I'll be thinking about it and almost cry because of the fact that I'll miss my parents and sometimes I just get scared about moving on but I'll do it someday soon and it will be the start of the prime of my life. Good luck to all the youngins such as myself starting life and to all a good future and hardcore sex with the wife and baseball practice with Michael and soccer practice with little Jennifer and day at the minivan dealership and sitting on the couch with your old wife eating on a folding table while watching TV and then the end of the world.

I had lots of fun in high school, and I do miss it. It will never be like that again. I also had fun throughout college and up untill now.
Things change and it's depressing when you have something good going and it's ends. At the same time once you move on and fall into another situation, it will grow on you and you'll miss that too once it ends. That's just the way it goes. Eventually you'll still remember highschool and miss it, but at the same time you won't want to go back. You'll want to stay right where you are.

As for time flying,.... if you think it flies now just wait untill college. It will go by even faster. Then once you fall into the routine of jobs, house, bills etc.... time will take huge leaps forward. You'll find yourself amazed by the fact that the last 8 or 9 years flew by without you noticing it.

sounds like high school to me, just replace every other work with "school" (and i'd rather be at work than school) and you have my life.

i didn't get my dad anything for fathers day except a card. you know why? cause he never gives me anything. nope, nothing for my birthday, nothing for christmas, and i'm not getting anything for graduation. he's one of those who believes you should work for everything yourself, at $6/hr. i just love it when the other kids at school get 15k cars from their parents as gifts while i worked hundreds and hundreds of hours for my pos.

if you add my working hours to my hours at school i probably work just as much as most adults. and my ratio of bills to income is likely also equal if not higher. just cause you had an easy time in high school doesnt mean everyone does.

You know, it's funny, I was like that throughout my "youth", though I'm not old now (only 20!). I had that feeling of "Oh goodness, life is passing us by!", never going to be here again, never going to see that person again, etc. Once I got through my sophomore year of college my perspective started to change, and I loosened up quite a bit. There are so many people to meet, so many places to go in this world that dwelling on ones you shared six months or a year with is foolish; now those friends you've known since birth (one for me) or first grade (two or trhee) are another matter, and they are indeed worth lamenting over losing.

Life is fun, just keep looking forward and you're going to have fun.

Cheers!

I loved high school and felt a lot like the OP as my senior year was going by. I think I had more fun in high school than I did in college...

I was playing basketball the other day w/ one of my high school friends and we saw and asian kid and a tall white kid workin on free throws and he was like look dude, that was us 7 years ago. Kind of shocking that I had been playing basketball 4 hours a day for summers 7 years now...although not this year as I have my first full time job. It still seems like we've only been doing this for 2 years.

Tons of people I knew in high school have moved back home and are doing absolutely nothing.

The same happened when I graduated college. All the kids I started with were on 5 year plans. My last year, especially the last 2 weeks I kept thinkin man, this is the last time I'm going to be a student. So I sat there and took everything in, enjoyed everything a little more. It's a different kinda thing man.
