I have a Durango . . . . :D

Yes, I know it adds nothing to the debate. ;)

How about an SVT Contour?

Stay with what you are firmiliar with, get the Corolla, I enjoyed my 95, the only thing I feel my 98 Civic was superior in was brakes. But I have yet to drive the new Corolla to compare.

those are actually really nice cars but certain people refuse to look at it because of the badge on the bonnet

The Corolla is nice, but I'd like to get AT LEAST a '03 model. I don't like the pre '03 models.

I'd steer clear away of a late model Honda. THey lose about 2% value in two years. Seriously their used value is totally unreasonable. It's as if the market believes that Hondas never ever break. Go with another toyota.
You just lost me there
Well it seems that although NFS4 reads about fast cars he doesn't actually want one!

Don't we all like to read about fast cars? :D I just happen to be a more practical person at heart. I'd love to have a Mini Cooper, but it really isn't very practical for me.

- The Protege is good b/c it's a NICE vehicle and the resale value "problem" it has makes it good for people looking to buy used.
- The Civic is well, a Honda...no explanation needed
- Same for the Toyota. I know what to expect and the dealers are excellent around here. And the salesman/service folks know me.

I'd rather get one that says boring middle aged driver on way to deposit bank slip, then young pup driver with no nest egg in sight ;)

Go with a new corolla. I really think they look pretty sweet and I'd rather have a new one than either of the other cars you mentioned in the original post (save the cooper). I'd seriously consider a new corolla as a second car. Even over a sentra!

---

Well I'd consider. Then I'd buy an SE-R. But still, the new corollas are nice :)

I would sell your Camry by yourself. You could only get $4500 for it?? How many miles? If I seen a 95 Camry in as good as shape as yours for $4500 it'd be a bargain!

Then I'd see about a 4cyl Mazda 6 or maybe an Impreza. The Civic, Corolla (friend has an 03, quite nice!), or Accord would all be excellent choices but I'd simply have something a little different. The civic would probably be the last choice.

I sure hope that I'd be able to get more than $4,500 for the Camry. We got it for $11,000 back in February of '00 with 78,000 miles on it.

I'm gonna revise my price range too...I'd say $15,000 or less. That would rule out larger new cars like the Mazda 6. That would also be the exact retail price of a '03 Corolla LE.

- Just b/c I'm a car nut doesn't mean that I have the money to go and buy a performance vehicle (or want one for that matter).
- I don't like the look of Maxima, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. I think they're ugly. I haven't liked them since the '89-'94 models.
- I prefer not to deal with VW's. Repairs are expensive as are their parts...even compared to Japanese cars.
- I don't NEED a performance car. Maybe when I'm 30 and I'm settled down, but I'd prefer to be "boring" right now...it's my right :D

It is indeed your right, but it still makes no sense to me that you would deliberately buy something as boring as the cars you have proposed when you could just as easily have some performance. I take it you like cars, but not driving?

I know where he's coming from. I love driving fun cars too, but there's a time fun, and a time for functionality. If I was still in college like Brandon is, I'd want a small compact car, that got good gas milage, was easy to park, was cheap to insure, and didn't draw a lot of unnecessary attention to itself.

Is it so hard to IMAGINE that others don't like what YOU like? :) To tell you the truth, when I drive to the store or am on the highway, the last thing on my mind is carving corners or mashing the gas.

THAT'S JUST ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I wanted to fly around corners with my hair on fire, I'd buy a used 300ZX. But when "I" am driving I prefer to take it easy and sit back without having to worry much about anything.

I have a 98 honda accord lx 4 door, u prolly can get it for about 10-12k

all I can say is I NEVER have any prob with this car since the day I bought it..

the engine is really smooth (VTEC inline 4), very good gas mileage, and can haul serious ass!!
