Dealers are such a PITA. It shouldn’t be that hard to quickly close the easiest deal ever without trying to charge bunch of random extra fees that I’m not going to pay. I will blow up the deal out of principle if they don’t relent :expressionless:

Every time I’ve bought a used car, which has thus far in my life always been an old BMW, it has been an absolute pleasure to deal with the private party owners. Never mind whether they were happy to be dealing with and passing off their treasured vehicle to a fellow enthusiast or excited to pawn off their unreliable POS to a sucker ... always been great in either case. I’ll just wait for the right used one, hopefully with pre-installed roll bar, if need be.

Did you end up getting it sorted or did you end the deal?

I’m going through with it — sorted it out with them. Surprisingly they weren’t trying to screw me, I’m just naturally suspicious of dealers. Just taking my time a bit with insurance, reg and pickup since I had an autocross this past weekend and picking this thing up is going to be another full day excursion that is hard to make time for : p

Let me know when to send over a trailer for the M3. 😛:tearsofjoy:

If anything goes, it will be the M5. I don’t need a real car with room in it anymore. Want it?
Haha thanks for offering, I wouldn't even know what to do with an M5. :tearsofjoy: I think I've already missed the boat on the E39, which will go down as the end of an era. Maybe you should garage it and let it appreciate some more! 😛

I saw this — looks exactly like mine but with 60k fewer miles. I am indeed just going to garage it and call it an asset. Some people invest in gold, crypto, stocks ... I’m diversifying into old BMWs that I can’t seem to let go.

Pics, pics, pics, pics, pics!

The useless dealer hasn’t managed to get the car registered yet. Last time I go out of state for a car purchase. I’ve been watching Massachusetts inventory statewide though and my spec hasn’t popped up anywhere over the last few months.

I bitched the sales manager out and sounds like they might transport the car to me on a truck, so not the worst trade off ...

so do they not like selling cars, or what?

They certainly sold it, just super slow getting it ready for me. Technically they didn’t receive the last of the paperwork they needed from me for registration until April 10, so not yet a totally ridiculous amount of time for an out of state registration. Still pretty annoyed, but I’m dealing with it because there are literally three Miatas of any spec within 200 miles, let alone the spec I want. Wait lists are 4-5 months now according to the forums. Must be a low production year or the typical supply chain issues of 2021 manifesting themselves in Mazda de-prioritizing its lowest volume vehicle.

It'll be yours....... someday.

I wouldn't mind getting a convertible, but my dad bought a 1995 Miata around 2000 or so....was a cool purchase. He still has the car....it's red and needs a paint job.

I'm not sure if I'd rather have one of those or a Jeep.

I can tell this is going to be fun. Raining out and I haven’t put my plates on yet so I only took it around the block. I got some easily controlled power oversteer flipping it around with the tight turning radius in the wet, which angered the fiancee in the passenger seat 😐

Women, its OK for them to drive 90MPH on the city interstate highway, but their man pull one sudden parking brake for five seconds in the rain and its all over with.

I sold the car two posts up last year when it was worth a few bucks more than I paid .. turns out car payments and new car insurance and excise tax sucks when one is used to driving 20 year old cars. To that end I drove this 90s beauty today and am going to write a check tomorrow:

Keep that one in good shape and it will only go up in value.

Miatas are fun. Brown however...

don’t worry, i like it even more knowing how much the peasant tasteless public hates it.

Every idiot out there loved the grey ND2 and I hope they leave me alone in this obviously maroon car.
