According to Peter King, that may be the case! Text

Watch the video titled 'Running under the radar'.

If it wasn't for Tiki's fumbling follies (in the past), he'd be seen in a different light...

Yeah, that pretty much what he says. But that is a thing of the past. He completely fixed that issue.

as a pure runner, going up the middle and cutting it off tackles tiki could be better than LT.

however, i think LT's threat at the edges and recieving just makes him the better of the two. and now for this season, he's even a passer out of the backfield :D

LOL, the Giants got burned by one of those passes.

BTW, Tiki is an excellent receiver out of the backfield.

i would have to disagree. i believe LT is a much better player then tiki because the fact that the entire chargers team suck. he doesnt get any support and cant do everything himself.

That's not true. Antonio Gates is an excellent tightend. Lorenzo Neal is an excellent blocking fullback. To put in my 2 cents, LaDainian Tomlinson is a better running back than Tiki Barber IMO and will never be better than LT.

i think LT is a field dancer like Barry Sanders... Tiki is a big tad below that elite level of talent. Tiki can make that one or two big back cuts but he can't dance like them where you see a crowd of football players and you can't spot Tiki, only to have Tiki bust out of the mob the next second.

But Tiki is about the best the Giants have had... better than Joe Morris and Hampton, body abilitywise.

The Chargers only won the West last year and have been one of the most competitive teams in the league this year..

Not to discount Tiki, as he is an excellent back, but no way is he better than LT. LT is even better than Sanders was IMO. It will take LT his entire NFL career to show that, but I think he is the best player in the league as of right now.

all i know is, i have tiki on my fantasy team this year and i had him on my teams the last 2 yrs, he has always been a big fantasy numbers guy for me.

why isn't he talked about in the same terms as marshal faulk? hasn't he shown himself to be a back with the kind of ability faulk or thurman thomas had?

which ironically contradicts what some in this thread are trying to say, that tiki has had better teams around him than LT has. flat out not true.

this is the first season tiki has had a decent offensive line in front of him. Eli is just now starting to get his act together. Plaxico gives them a stretch WR which the giants just didn't have before. amani toomer is good but he never had the speed that plaxico does.

this is a very very good giants team, at least of offense anyway.

That is the popular opinion. But the stats show that Tiki has done better since the start of 2004 (at least according to the vid).

QFT

I'm not arguing that he isn't. Did you guys watch the video?

I did watch the video. Pretty much the only reason that he is even bringing up the arguement is becuase LT has had only 7X yards in the last 2 weeks. Could this be becuase almost his entire O-line is out on injury? Nah, Tiki must be a better RB. Tiki is one of the best backs in the league. I don't think anyone is arguing against that. The point is, he is in no way shape or form as versatile as LT is. LT is just a better football player.

I've heard a lot of arguments against LT when you bring up his 3/3 3 TD passes. "Oh, he is an athlete. Anyone could throw a TD pass." The point is, no one else does it. I guarantee Tiki couldn't have a 100+ rush day and a receiving TD and throw a TD down the field. LT isn't a god, but he is a freakin' pimp and the best player in the league.

EDIT ThePresence, my semi-weak-rant wasn't directed at you. ;) I just quoted ya to say I did watch the vid.

LT is without question the better back. Chargers made a great pick by dealing the rights for Vick to get LT and brees. LT threw 3 passing TDs, and can catch, cut back being a weaker O line. What have you done for me lately Tiki?

I had both LT & Tiki in my ff league, and I traded Tiki for Stephen Davis & Randy Moss. I'm now thinking that maybe it was a bad move, as Tiki exploded last week, my first week without him. They have the 49ers & my Vikes next, not the greatest stoppers of the run.
