true story.

After a golf tournament at Akrons Firestone Country Club, Tiger Woods took a group of people out to Akrons nicest restraunt (i dont know name), the waitress bent over backwards to accomadate the group and made sure everything was perfect for them. after waitressing them for 3+ hours, tiger paid the $600+ bill and didnt tip the waitress any money. The waitress complained to the owner, and the owner asked Tiger why he did not tip. to which he replied "I do not tip, i feel they should be paid a fair wage"

the owner tipped the waitress out of his pocket.

i find it bullshit that Tiger doesnt tip waiters/waitresses, you have more money than anyone basically, but dont tip? seriously just tip, damnit thats arrogant.

Tiger just went down a lot in my book when i heard that.

Stupid to do, but I agree. Waiters/Waitresses should be paid by their employers, not working off of tips.

My theory is that if you don't believe in tipping, don't go out to eat at a restaurant.

he said to the owner that the service was great, he just doesnt tip in general.

the owner has now banned him from eating there.

That's crap. It is customary to tip, especially since everyone knows that tipping is how witers / waitresses make their money.

Perhaps gratuity was already included, as is the case in lots of places where the group consists of 8+ people. Perhaps that was the case and he didn't feel the need to tip above that.

I remember a SI article from a few years ago. The writer said that Woods is notoriously cheap.

source would be the owner himself to my father.

my father deals with him a lot because he helped supply the plumbing equipment for the restraunt (sinks etc)

he has the right not to tip and I thought he gave a valid answer.

restaurants should pay well enough so that their staff don't have to work for tips....that's bs.

And I find it hard to believe that no gratuity was included on the bill. I have been in nice places with large groups many many times and 15-18% gratuity is always included.

Personally, I think the story is BS.

1) If its true, the story would have broke out already.
Something like that, the media would have a field day with it and we haven't heard about it.

2) Usually, every restaurant include gratuity when dealing with big parties, so the tips are already included.
I used to wait tables and personally I have never seen restaurants that doesn't include tips for parties of 6-10.

I find that hard to believe. Can you support that with evidence?
