i personally think thats a little low.
$500 off of 54000?
i wouldve given the dealer more than that i think.
especially if i were tiger woods.
id imagine a 500 dollar tip isnt out of the ordinary for dealers in vegas.

Um...$500 tip is great anywhere you go. Even for a day.

$500/day * 40 weeks a year * 5 days a week = $100,000. Not bad for someone without an education.

You people bitching about the sizes of the tips - or whether to even tip at all - have obviously never worked in the service industry, and probably never will.

A blackjack dealer is in the service industry?

A blackjack dealer is in the service industry?

If he's not, why does he get a tip at all?

$500 is nothing compared to what JayZ did in Australia on tour. He autographed $100 bills and gave 'em to the fans. I think he autographed 1000 bills in total.

Heh... I wonder how many of his "fans" actually kept the money instead of spending it.

So if you tip the person delivering your mail, does that put them into the service industry? Regardless of whether or not a tip is required?

It's just a nice thing to do. Like if you get a big win on a lottery ticket, you slip a couple bucks to the person who gave/sold it to you. You don't have to do, but it's a nice gesture.

No, that doesn't put them in the service industry. Then again, mailmen don't expect tips in any of the places I grew up. If you give a mailman anything at all he'll be suprised and grateful. If dealers aren't in the service industry, then it's silly to even have a topic asking if it's a reasonable tip. A tip is a bonus and not an expectation, and they should be grateful with anything that is given.

I just saw on the news that he funded some place that will help kids and stuff.. over $10million IIRC.. I wouldn't call him cheap. 🙂

I'm not too familar with gambling etiquette, but I think a $500 tip is reasonable. I might have left a $1000 tip in the situation, because I would be giddy with money and happiness.

I remember hearing about Nick Cage winning roughly 30,000 dollars at Vegas one time, and he ended up giving it ALL back to the dealers/waitresses.

I used to deliver pizzas, and I have worked in the service industry. The dealer is not in the service industry - and I would never consider giving him a tip. What should I tip him for? Good service?!?! 😕

Tipping dealers is for losers.
I see a lot of people tipping dealers whenever they win a big one, but they eventually lose all back and more.
If you want to tip, you should tip when the dealer is leaving or you are leaving and you've won substantial amount.
I don't believe in tipping for every big winning.

I hope I never run into you guys if I ever make it to Vegas. Tipping the dealer is for karma. I'm winning, i'm helping you out.

Btw...the dealers in most places don't keep individual tips. they split them by shift.

And net worth doesn't have anything to do with how much you tip...it's the principle. The casinos are there to take your money, and the staff is there to make you feel good about it.d They don't make a lot of money hourly wise, and have to live off their tips.

So.....if Tiger had a good time there....and he won $50,000...which might as well be monopoloy money to him, IMO, a $500 tip was sh!t. Not like he needed the other $50,000.

There was a story about the largest payout in Atlantic city history in 1994. It was some insane amoutn ( i wanna say $100 million, but i"M not sure). it was won by a surgeon playing the slots. He was at the high rolller craps table, and got booted off b/c of no smoking cigars at the table he was at. So, he said fVck em, and went to the $20 a turn slot. They said he hit the jackpot in teh first $300. Since he got booted off the craps table, he tipped his waitress $10,000 for being nice.

Now, none of that was ever confirmed...but it was told to me by a blackjaack dealer @ Bally's in AC.

On the same hand...maybe Tiger thought that money would be better served in his foundation then tipping....so who am I to judge. It's just suprising that someone of his stature winning a pretty large amount wouldn't tip more.....that's all.

Did anyone stop to think maybe he didn't like the dealer? Maybe the dealer was obnoxious or didn't have a personality? If the dealer is nice, I usually leave a tip but if they don't talk or is not very friendly, I don't tip.

$500 sounds reasonable to me. Just because he is wealthy doesn't mean he is required to throw tons of money at every person looking for a tip.

the dealers dont even get to keep it for themselves anyways..

it gets divided out with the other dealers....

which isnt too fair.. cause there are some @sshole dealers out there.. while there are some kickass GREAT dealers also

Tips? The man GAVE a tip and you're calling him CHEAP!?

The dealer didn't deserve jack CRAP for doing his job other than his paycheck and he got $500. I'd consider that generous.

You obviously have never lived in manhattan... Not only does my mailman expect a tip, he leaves "christmas" cards for everybody during the holiday season (saying some crap like "best wishes from your mailman, Joey"). So now Joey the mailman thinks he should have a hand in my wallet...

But whadd'ya gonna do? If I don't tip him, he could "lose" my bills and whatnot :Q
