Tiger Woods......cheap?

I was listening to the radio earlier and they mentioned Tiger Woods had been to Las Vegas this past weekend.

He won $54,000 at the blackjack table and tipped the dealer $500.

A reasonable tip? Or is he a miser?

Dude, what's wrong with giving the dealer $500? If the dealer had taken all of Tiger's cash, he wouldn't have tipped Tiger a dime.

what is that? 1 %?

thats pretty good i would say.

i don't understand why people tip dealers so much... if i have a good run, i will tip when i leave the casino. otherwise, it stays in my pocket until i know i have beat the casino.

It's not like the dealer used some sort of skill or talent to help him win. If anything, winning at blackjack lies in the PLAYER's strategy. The dealer is just throwing cards. $500 seems more than reasonable...

are you joking? 500 $ tip is good money, nothing to sneeze at.

i would have just been happy to tell my friends that i dealt blackjack to Tiger Woods 🙂

$500 would have been icing on the cake.

Well, if I won $54,000 I'd tip myself $500 before I tipped anyone else jack.

But, seeing as the last time I heard he was worht about $150 million, he's a cheap fVcker for that. When I used to gamble......if I hit on a $25 bet....say a blackjack, which would give me 62.50....I'd usually toss a 2.50 or a 5 the way of the dealer.

IF I left the table and was up a few hundred (most I ever won was $400 at one sitting to get creamed the next)....I'd leave a 10 or 20.

Now....my tips aren't outrageous. I don't sit at the dollar tables to avoid the morons....and I stick to the $5 or $10 or $20 table. Since I'm broke now, the only gambling I do is via Hoyle 🙂 But, I'd say what I just described is pretty standard. So...even if he did win $54,000, and only tipped 1%...that's pretty damn cheap. Maybe he tipped some when he was winning as well, and that was the finishing tip.

My uncle pulled a straight flush at carribean stud and won $11,000 some odd dollars and walked with $8000 some odd dollars and tipped the dealer $200 or so.

I say fvck the dealer. Why do people need to tip them anyway? It's not like they had something to do with his winning.

$500 is nothing compared to what JayZ did in Australia on tour. He autographed $100 bills and gave 'em to the fans. I think he autographed 1000 bills in total.

Now you're supposed to tip a percentage of your income? These tipping rules are becoming worse and worse.

$500 to someone that was trying their best to stop me from winning anything at all is plenty.

Actually, the dealers want you to win. They don't try to stop you from winning, they just folllow the house rules. Every dealer you'llever meet except for say, the dealer in Vacation in Las Vegas wnats you to win. That's the only way they get the big tips.

Only time you can't tip at the places I've been is when the dealer makes an error....and pulls a card b/c they miscounted.

Yeah, screw him. $500 is plenty.

In 1995, Australian media mogul, Kerry Packer, won $20 million at an MGM casion in Vegas. He tipped each dealer on duty, 40 of them, $2500...a total of $104,000. I believe he also tipped his own dealer $250,000. The loss for MGM was large enough that it was noted on their year-end financial report. :Q

You're basically saying if you know what my net worth is, then I have to tip a proportional amount, but if I'm just an average joe sixpack and you have no idea what's in my coffers, it's ok?

Any tip is a good tip, imo. There are many cheap, cheap people out in Vegas that won't tip a dime even if they win enough to pay off their 5th mortgage. In craps, after I've won about $20, I start making all kinds of bets for the dealers. No, it doesn't help the odds, but it does make for a friendly environment when the dealers are rooting the players on to make that hard 10. And since it's all about fun anyways, why not? =)

what a cheap b@stard. i would throw that tip back in his face and demand more..
