How does this thread rate a sticky?

Adul is a mod, or has some "favours" in reserve from this weekend? :Q

I have no powers, but it something we need to know. Someone else on the staff stickied it. I am only the messenger.

So no I dont have mod powers, admin powers, no the ability to log in such accounts and no ability to pee standing up without making a mess

**FIXED** 😛

Is this according to your first hand experience, Brandon?

Not that there's anything wrong with it ... 😛

I will never order from them just based on what I've heard. The only decent prices I've ever seen on their stock has been after rebate, and since the rebate is never going to come it kind of kills the deal.

I also heard at one point they were signing their customers up for some kind of (fee-based) service w/o their knowledge or consent.

I'm usually willing to pay a bit more to support etailers that have good business practices. Just recently bought my first LCD from monitorsdirect, for example.

Ditto but I did have an exprience that pissed me off when dealing with them. Afterward I canceled their newsletters and don't ever visit there site. There is plenty of competition so once you screw me over you aren't getting any repeat business.

I'm kinda wondering if this is testing the waters before they bring them back. Remember that guy from Tiger direct that was spamming here?.

I never ordered from them but I heard enough bad things, and the fact that Newegg is top-notch, why take the chance?

Okay, fair enough. If we can prove that the rebate checks do indeed get lost or never show up at all, then we (Anandtech) should call up one of the local news stations (raleigh/durham) and get in touch with their "on your side" business reporters. Explain the details and point them to the tiger Direct store on Capital. Then they should be able to talk to a company rep and answer the questions, right?

I bought a hard drive from the outlet store here in Raleigh. Sent in the rebate and it came back about 2-3 months later. Not bad.

I had a very positive experience ordering my AMD EPP Bundle from tiger. It shipped quickly and arrived in great condition and the rebate came through after a couple months as well. If you take your time and take the necessary precautions for rebates, you have ABSOLUTELY nothing to worry about guys. Here's what I do:

Make photocopies of everything you send in (rebate form filled out, UPC code, receipt, etc..)
Send it in a well-sealed envelope through USPS via Certified Mail w/ Delivery Confirmation (~$2)
Photocopy the receipt and DC page from the USPS and put everything in a folder

Keep track of the DC page, and when it finally says it was delivered or accepted at the company, SAVE THE WEBPAGE or print it, and file that too.

If they give you hassle, you actually have a law-suit on your hands with all this information. It proves you sent in everything, proves when you sent it, and if all goes well with the DC page, it proves that THEY received it.

I had a guy at my work that did this and got like 2 grand from a $30 dollar rebate he didn't get. They tried repeatedly to settle for a lesser amount cuz they knew they were screwed, but he didn't do it and ended up winning in the end.

Have fun!

I've used tiger direct. I had no problems with their rebates. Their product line is pretty generic, and not very wide. I generally check their prices when I'm shopping parts and they usually lose out to mwave or newegg.
I've just started using newegg. First order pissed me off. For some reason they packed my order in two boxes. I got one on time, the other five days late. They did automatically refund my "ship today" fee without me even asking. I thought that was cool, and pretty damn honorable.
My favorite is mwave. Their website sucks, but it's way better than it was a year ago. Their prices run right with newegg, and in lots of cases if it's not on sale at newegg, it is at mwave.
Mwave's reseller rating looks good, too.

My company bought some refurb'd E-machines from TigerDirect, several came without hard drives, and one came without a cpu. Probably E-machines fault, not TD's, but what the hay.

They destroyed their rep, a long time ago and haven't done anything I've seen that has rebuilt it.

They would need a positive marketing campaign and I'd need to see real user commentary before I would try them...

Why go to Tiger when you can use NewEgg?
