Make sure they are transgender appropriate otherwise you may get sued. :D

Maybe you can't even call them chairs. That could be a body shaming thing, maybe the chairs want to be called "role neutral seating apparatus" so that they're not stereotyped.

Quite frankly I am disgusted and appalled that a phone app that I don't use for a purpose I don't need is allowing gender names that I don't believe in and I will now be voting Trump in 2020 as a result.

Sounds about right. You and I might not use it but the fact that an app that is used by the hookup youth crowd recognized or placaded the identity ambivalent shows us the signs of the time. Demand of safe spaces and special bathrooms are just the tip of the iceberg. It's about the trends. Give them an inch they'll take a mile. I have no idea what Trump's policy will be; if it will have any effect on the social movement. He does bring out an irrational fear among the SJWs.

I think you just cleared something up. Trump is all about the irrational fear war. The Trump supporters are sick of having all the irrational fears, and they feel that voting in Trump shifts the irrational fear burden to the other side. Now, instead of trans bathroom rapists, we have to fear KKK assault rifle wielding mad men.

If the harassment is sufficient to convince the court system that they deserve to win, that seems fine. It could probably happen today under our existing system of laws.

On top of that, most trans people do not want their own trans accommodations in the first place, they just want to live as the gender they see themselves as. For the most part, a third (or tenth) bathroom is something ignorant people like to talk about because, well, they're ignorant. Non-binary trans people are a minority in a minority, and even many of them are fine with using binary bathrooms.

Oh yeah, and on that Trump guy...

The supposed bathroom issue has a very simple fix that preserves dignity for all. Provide single occupancy bathrooms with a sign that simply reads, "Bathroom". Ditto on showers, except the sign would read, "Shower".

Yep that's what I'd do if I had a business. Have a door that says "bathrooms" you go in, it's a hall, and there would be a bunch of single occupancy bathrooms. You're a bitransgaysexual who identifies as a llama? Yup you can use it too. Just don't shit in the sink.

I have to imagine they're just trying to cover all the bases. Too many is better than not enough, though of course at the risk of seeming like satire.

https://www.cnet.com/news/tinder-gets-transgender-friendly-with-a-massive-update/

Most of the options look like the same frickin thing to me though. Is there a difference between Trans vs Trans Woman vs Transgender Woman vs Transgender Female?

Bigender
Female to Male
FTM

Gender Nonconforming
Gender Questioning

Transsexual Male
Transsexual Man
Transsexual Person
Transsexual Woman
Two-Spirit

Oh no. How terrifying. They are among us, or something.

What the fuck do you care?

but when colleges start forcing us to use stupid pronouns else it be considered harassment

You having to use the correct word is harassment? On one hand I guess you should feel blessed that you have clearly never experienced harassment, but on the other hand if you had then you probably wouldn't be making stupid statements like that.

I also wonder how much you and others would slag off people who complained that others haven't used their preferred pronouns, call them 'princess', 'snowflake', and 'go back to your safe space' and yet not notice the hypocrisy.

What if my gender isn't in the list of 35 that they published?

Not surprising since Tinder is quite liberal in the first place. It's a business decision, nothing more.

Frankly, the whole thing irritates me because the concept of gender is recent. It is that lie that gets repeated over and over again with no factual basis - that gender is a social construct etc etc. Liberals and feminists repeat that one over and over again as if it is some kind of gospel that you would be an idiot to even question.

I do however question the existence of gender as separate to physical sex. I don't think gender exists at all, much less being a social construct. Problem is, all of the studies relating to gender have the assumption that gender exists and is a social construct, so it is not surprising that they find results that agree with them.

As we have less things to concern ourselves with (or said concern takes up less time), we're able to expand our concern to other, more luxurious areas (relatively speaking). So, if collectively we don't have to worry so much about food and sabretoothed cats, we get to start working on things like art and farming. Once we don't have to worry about things like driving to the store for every. fucking. thing. or whether or not we get to pay bills or eat this week, we can start focusing on self identity and inner reflection. Some of us do that by ranting at each other on message boards, others by exploring their sexuality/gender identity.

I really, really don't understand why everyone gets upset about how some other group chooses to spend their free time.

Because if someone born a man, but who decided to become a woman, is called by their masculine name and not their preferred feminine name, they throw a hissy fit and claim discrimination.

If someone who claims to be a gender queer nonconformist is not given the bathroom choice that they want (whatever that is), they claim discrimination.

That is why. Heck, I don't care what they do or what they think about themselves. But don't demand special treatment from the world for it. If your drivers license says your name is Brad, don't get upset when people don't call you Amy.

your constant state of fear is not healthy. most people are reasonable, including individuals that may consider themselves gender non-binary.

Now, please proceed to attempt to discredit my statement by cherry picking insane overreactions that make news.

Serious question, do you have any actual transgender or genderqueer friends in real life? Ever talked to someone in those categories about this?

I'm honestly not seeing it as any better that you unleash a hissy fit if someone formerly called Brad asked you to call them Amy.

I'm pretty sure your real name isn't Ancalagon44, does the masquerade you're engaging in sit OK with you? I've never had someone unleash a hissy fit if I asked them to call me something other than the name on my birth certificate, and my name also changed when I got married. How many fucks have ever been given regarding the change? Zero. I've been asked plenty of times how I would prefer to be referred to as.

My sister in law didn't like the first name she was given, so she asked people to refer to her by a name she preferred. Would you be the kind of ass who insists on calling her by the name she doesn't like? Does it make you feel better? Do you think it helps anyone else? Does it achieve anything? What does a moment's courtesy cost you? Or are you the kind of person who thinks that someone who spelt or pronounced your name wrong needs to burn in hellfire? Do you watch films and TV shows and scream at the screen, "THAT'S NOT YOUR REAL NAME, YOU FRAUD! YOU FAKER!"?

If the person formerly known as Brad wants you to call them Amy and you insist on calling them Brad, all you're doing is showing how much of an ass you can be. Peoples' perception of Amy won't be changed by your childish tantrum, but their perception of you will be.

Also, I have to ask, when was the last time some random person introduced themselves and you insisted on seeing some ID to check that they weren't trying to sucker you into their evil dastardly scheme of thinking that their name was something else?

If you're into these dating apps, it would be cool if you could check out a dating app that myself and 2 others (1 other dev) released in the app store last week. It was over a year of development total time in our spare time with a bunch of hiccups along the way, but it's finally out.

The app is only "open" in NYC for the time being as we're trying to have a condensed city test things out to see how it scales, but even there we're not getting too many users but we're slowly but surely getting some. We're trying to get over the chicken/egg problem that these apps have.

As of now however, you cannot select from 35 genders. You sign in through your facebook account and it uses your facebook information.

If you want to check it out, https://spinthebottle.co is the website with a promo video about the app and links to it in the Apple app store. The Android one is in the works.

The only trans-person I've worked with was pretty understanding when people slipped up and used her old name.

Funny, the only genderqueer folk I know don't give much of a concern which bathroom they use so long as it's got a toilet in it.

And what about when they get their driver's license updated to say Amy?
We had a guy here whose name was Charles, but he went by Mike (I guess Charles was his dad's name and they didn't get along or something?), guess we should have just told him to suck it the fuck up and be called by the name on his driver's license? Because we're all raging assholes here, you know, incapable of empathy, and fuck you for having feelings anyway.
