did you read the blog? some Condo broadband internet connections are set up where the building is wired, you pay and the building shares an IP. i bet a lot of new condos in NYC also do this. point is that you can't switch because the building is wired for one provider

Just because they offer a shared internet option doesn't mean he can't use his own, such as DSL, or cable if they have cable service in the building. This isn't even taking into account 3g/4g.

That's why I said "a real ISP".

Sharing IPs sounds like a god awful idea anyway......What about all the awful shit people do online? Gotta have my own.

i was in telecom for a dozen years and i've never heard of an apartment building sharing the same ip address. what kind of shithole is that? does everyone share a phone number and mailbox too?
