Interesting, I didn't plan on watching a human sliced open and eaten today. That's a very unique skill set to have, especially when he cracks open the skull to free the brain.

I am not surrendering my top position in the food chain. Not to birds, worms or bacteria! Gonna get cremated and ashes spread around.

obviously everyone's view on how death should be handled will be different but I love this philosophy personally.

I believe you're confusing this with the people you'd like to chain down and have eaten by predators while still alive. 😉

Preferably pidgeons.. vultures are too quick 😉

at first I thought they go up in a small airplane and drop the body out or something. now that would be cool.

what it actually is, however, its pretty gross and to me has nothing in common with traditional burial. seems like a half-assed way to get rid of bodies.

calling syringer. syringer to the tibetan sky burial thread please.

Half assed? Seems pretty efficient to me.

Also, the term "traditional" is completely relative. What is "traditional" to you can make many other cultures scratch their heads.

lol wow. that is interesting. I'm not going to do it, but the means by which it developed to cope with the enviornment is smart. If I die I want to be buried the muslim way --> single cloth wrapped around the body and buried under the ground to return to our organic nature. it is also simply, but i guess the worms get you instead of the birds.

oh and that is interesting from the wiki --> in some places they have to coax the bird to eat!

in fact, why dont they just eat the dead. why feed a bunch of birds when you can feed yourself. that would be much more efficient if you ask me.

Great way to get prion disease.

Cremation isn't any better of a way to "preserve the memories of loved ones", and it takes a lot of energy.

the point is that most cultures go through some effort for the dead. these guys just seem to be doing a quick and easy disposal.

what do you do when you can't dig more than a few inches underground and there is no wood?

of course the easy answer is to go all the way down the plateau and bury them where its warmer, but i guess this developed instead

Yeah, those damn lazy Tibetans. Why don't they just drop them into a cold dark hole dug by Mexicans like civilized people do?
