Tibetan Sky Burial

I would assume that was implied with "not for the squeamish" ;^)

That's kind of like a post linking a great site with hot teen lesbian action, followed with a NSFW :^D

Looking at pictures of decomposing bodies is not one of the things I'm willing to do today. The wikipedia article is interesting, though.

at first I thought they go up in a small airplane and drop the body out or something. now that would be cool.

what it actually is, however, its pretty gross and to me has nothing in common with traditional burial. seems like a half-assed way to get rid of bodies.

calling syringer. syringer to the tibetan sky burial thread please.

Because Tibetans are known for their ancient history of powered flight? :^D

... and half-assed way of getting rid of bodies? It's extremely efficient, conservative of resources, and more in tune with the natural order of things.

They don't have enough time to decompose.

Apparently they developed this because they couldn't bury bodies (ground is too rocky) and they couldn't cremate them either (Tibet is above the timber line, so wood is scarce).

You'd figure they could do a bit more to preserve the memories of loved ones. Unless there is some spiritual or religious reason. well obviously there is but im too lazy to read the wiki any more.

what do they do with the bones afterwards? reuse them for haloween decorations? that would be pretty efficient or they could make arrows out of them. conserve them resources baby.

in fact, why dont they just eat the dead. why feed a bunch of birds when you can feed yourself. that would be much more efficient if you ask me.

Memories are in your head, not in a hole in the ground ;^)

No, not really. My father died 9 years ago, and he's interned in a mausoleum. I've been there once in 9 years(not counting the initial funeral). There's nothing there, it's just a blank wall. My father's in my head, in the personality he helped create, and the tokens of love he gave me through the years....

obviously everyone's view on how death should be handled will be different but I love this philosophy personally.

I don't suppose throwing corpses on roofs in metropolitan areas will fly.

No officer. It's teh SKY burrial! Very sacred.

Meh. Fuck the pigeons! Starve you fat, ungrateful sky rats!

I believe you're confusing this with the people you'd like to chain down and have eaten by predators while still alive. 😉
