Thunderbird Rules The Pentium 4

Well I'm eating crow just like I said I would even though his score is weak as hell he did it. The thing has to be stable to run 3Dmark. 1456 MHZ out of a air cooled 1.2 thunderbird I am Impressed. Wonder why it scores so low compared to other scores I've seen out of lesser clocked T-Birds with the same video card. My 933 P-3 @1050 mhz would beat that hands down. But anyway the point was made and taken the Thunderbird rules the Pentuim 4 !!!! Oh by the way my 3dmark score is 10130 to the 7828 of his. Sorry I had to add that..

You just helped me decide which CPU to replace my p3 500 with...a Coppermine 933. With the price drops already and more to come next week...I'm glad I get paid then!! I just don't want to buy a T-bird because everyone has one and then goes on bashing Intel (I've never been one to give in to peer pressure) Something I wonder though, is why anyone expects anything different than what we've seen with the P4? I mean, even Intel said it would not blow everyone away when it came to current software. I have a friend actually that works at the fab in Alberquerque NM, and he said he's actually talked with some of the engineers who were there on a tour, and they were kind of pissed. Why? Well, they are a competative lot, and they have to live with the fact that they sacrificed handing the Athlon its ass in Current benchmarks in order to have a architecture that would extend and perform well in the software of tommorow. They didn't like it, but they understood it was what was best for the industry as a whole. So, I guess I'm getting tired of all the P4 bashing on here, because everyone acts suprised. I'm what you'd call an Intel-Suporter, but until this price cut, I was considering going to T-bird just on price alone. Now I can do what I wanted to do....just my two cents.

well I just used your results to post to MadOnioin.com your score and I did a search of all athlons with the same video card as you and currently I am now 13 pages back 20 per page on the list of Athlon with that video card and still haven't reached a score as low as yours and the ones I'm on are at 1000 mhz and dropping. I'm not implying anything just researching your low score my P-3 has a regular geforce 2 at 933 and will scrore 7500 all day at stock clock on the same video card. Something just seems fishy what did you do to get it to run this benchmark ???

As I see it, the P4 is just a bunch of BS. I mean come on 'Netburst'? It's supposed to increase the speed of net surfing? Come on. If you beleive those *ntel engineers then my house runs off of cold fusion.

NOS, I had AGP 4x off. I would test again but I'm shipping this card off for a gay bayer and I will order the 64mb Pro.

Yea, I'll be replacing my old 550E w/ a 1ghz P3, since the price is so much lower now and I have some credit left at ack Fry's. I don't want to buy a new MB and I don't feel like going through the hastles of reinstalling everything and having to use things like 4in1 drivers.

I realize the T-bird is a faster chip, but I don't want to deal with hastles with W2k and having to get a new HS/FAN and deal witht he super amount of heat a t-bird puts off.

Overall: plug and play simplicity of Intel wins me over. '

PS: I'm getting this cause I need something to tide me over until I built a new system for college this summer, be it P4 or wutever AMD is faster. I'll be getting all new stuff then .

NOS440 agp4x is stable but only with the old 5.xx detonators. The newer versions are not stable with agp4x on the kt133. It's Nvidia's fault.

Well everyone although after some research I feel that a retraction of this post is in order. I'm not going to go that far I will let you decide ! I am giving you a link to a comparison on the 3Dmark sight of IHYLN score to a 850 Athlon with the same video card that scored almost the same as he did.
Now I said the score didn't matter and did what I said I would do but its pretty obvious that he did some heavy untweaking of his system to score this low and get his system to not lock up. I mean he is a 34 pages back from the Thunderbirds that are clocked the same as He is that are published results that = 680 results behind the top scores. this is pretty thin!!!!!
