What rate? Crime in black neighborhoods is bad and always has been. So if thats bad and blacks are so racist, does it not beg the question then, why was this guy in this neighborhood alone? Two thoughts, either he is one of the bad ones or maybe he felt comfortable to go there alone. Obviously he didn't view black people in the same light as some here do, because for whatever the reason he was there alone.

I don't have a double standard, I judge situations, not people's color. One day I'll condemn a white cop and the next day defend one.

For almost 20 years I have lived in a mixed and colorless life 24x7, successfully. How about you?

2. Now it is your turn. Do the same thing to other posters that you accused as racists. Post the threads and their replies and let us see for ourselves. I did my part to show who you really are. Now your turn to return the favor.

One last thing, the one thing that stick out the most about you is this (at least to me):

I don't see anyone calling Egypt a shit hole today in the thread you're talking about. In fact not a single person referred to Egypt as a shit hole in that entire thread from what I've been able to tell.

Now... if you're a black man who lives in a red state and a bunch of racist whites beat the shit out of you and put you in a coma and a judge sentences the attackers to 30-60 days in jail while a jury will recommend no jail time at all

Vincent Chin, anyone?

Perhaps the most graphic and shocking incident that illustrates this process was the murder of Vincent Chin in 1982. Vincent was beaten to death by two White men (Ronald Ebens and Michael Nitz) who called him a "jap" (even though he was Chinese American) and blamed him and Japanese automakers for the current recession and the fact that they were about to lose their jobs. After a brief scuffle inside a local bar/night club, Vincent tried to run for his life until he was cornered nearby, held down by Nitz while Ebens repeatedly smashed his skull and bludgeoned him to death with a baseball bat.
The equally tragic part of this murder were how Vincent's murderers were handled by the criminal justice system. First, instead of being put on trial for second degree murder (intentionally killing someone but without premeditation), the prosecutor instead negotiated a plea bargain for reduced charges of manslaughter (accidentally killing someone). Second, the judge in the case sentenced each man to only two years probation and a $3,700 fine -- absolutely no jail time at all.
The judge defended these sentences by stating that his job was to fit the punishment not just to the crime, but also to the perpetrators. In this case, as he argued, both Ebens and Nitz had no prior criminal record and were both employed at the time of the incident. Therefore, the judge reasoned that neither man represented a threat to society. However, others had a different interpretation of the light sentences. They argued that what the judge was basically saying was that as long as you have no prior criminal record and have a job, you could buy a license to commit murder for $3,700..........

.......Further, the lenient treatment that his killers received echoes similar incidents in the late 1800s in which Chinese miners were not allowed to testify against Whites who attacked them or murdered their friends. In other words, Vincent's murder was another example of how the life of an Asian American is systematically devalued in relation to that of a "real" American.

Well this is a fun thread.

OK, my having grown up in the inner city two cents.

First, I don't know anything about this neighborhood so what I say may or may not apply to the victim. I don't know if it's all black or mixed or what, but I do know that in the real world one has to be careful where one walks. When I lived in Philly, walking on the wrong side of the street meant a good chance of being taken away in a bag. Bottom line- bad things happen to people who are in the wrong neighborhood. That's life. Doesn't make things right, but neither does an 18 wheeler running a stop sign. You may have the right of way, but if you decide that principle means you should go in front of it, be my guest, but no one should be surprised at the results. Life isn't fair.

Second, these guys need to be away. I don't care if their motivations were race based or not. They were serious about having a good time by hurting someone. That's not acceptable.

That brings us to point three. When someone is attacked in this manner it's life threatening. At that point deadly force is warranted if that is the only way to avoid being attacked. Only a fool would think otherwise. One person has been beaten to death by another countless times. Multiple assailants ARE life threatening.

If someone jumps you in the street for no reason, they deserve to be shot. Picking a fight with a random person carries the risk that that person has a weapon. This is one of the reasons why I carry a knife with me.
