Too bad the guy who got beat up wasn't black. Then this incident could have just been seen for what it most likely was- a bunch of cowardly kids making themselves feel better by beating up a helpless victim. It probably has nothing to do with race. And even if it was race related, who cares? Ultimately the motives are the same.

Really I never knew my grandfather on my dad's side. You know why? As the story goes, he got into an argument with 3 white men after he had been drinking. The next day some folks found him in a field with his head busted open. He never woke again. My other grandfather who I knew for many years spent 5 years in prison for cattle stealing. My mom says he never did it and all they wanted was his land, which they got after he was convicted. So cry me a river. Not once did I defend these thugs, but I do beg the question what was this guy doing there.

But this is not a news story for most here. This is not a story about a person being assaulted. No, for dirtbags like spidey, nick1985, and career trashcans like Amused this is a story that feeds their race hatred. They wake up, eat and sleep hating blacks. Most white people don't give a shit about race anymore. Unfortunately, the majority of people today that are racist or focus on race are those of a minority.

Hopefully the day will come when we don't refer to people by race at all, no different than we do with hair or eye color.

I posted a simple anecdote about a situation where a "fistfight" like AzN was alluding to turned deadly. I used my personal anecdote because I could type it from memory - there are thousands of others that I could have found on the internet if I really wanted to. The point stands just as well either way - and that point was about violence and self defense, not race, not about the victim and why he was there and if he deserved it.

Meanwhile, you chose to respond to me with a story (that specifically mentioned race) that had absolutely nothing to do with my post. You did this because you assumed my post had something to do with race, and therefore, you felt it prudent to respond with a racial anecdote of your own. Your point was that violence happens to and by people of all races. You've made that point elsewhere in this thread. So what reasons for him being there would justify their actions? BTW just BEING THERE is not a good enough reason, which is the one you keep using, which is just defending the thugs.
